Original Album Classics

Whilst I can’t understand why this isn’t a five cd set to include Wednesday Morning 5am and Bridge Over Troubled Water it is nevertheless seriously good. The albums all include tracks not included in their original editions. Absolute genius on show.

This is the very best of S & G before the rot set in with the dreadful 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' pretentious dirge - though the rest of that album ain't bad, nowhere near the standard of these though.Full marks for sound quality as well, which literally took my breath away it's stunningly good.

Yes, indeed, they taught S&G lyrics in school. The lyrics are not as good as that, but melody-wise they're up there with the very best of them. As well their harmony singing. And getting these discs for a bargain is well worth it. Rather than talking about all three, I focus on the best one - perhaps in fact the best they ever did - Bookends. It is bookended by "Old Friends" - a subdued piece on old men on a park bench, sitting like bookends, indeed. And the story goes that the album is about life, starting with songs about kids, and ending with the old men title song. The most famous song here is "Mrs. Robinson", which was a big hit, but for me it is the whole piece that works - a fine production of songs that siege together extremely well. And here they have found perfectly how their voices blend. It is a shame that they did not continue much further, and that Art has lost his voice. This is very good, and you do get two more albums for free, you could say.

I cannot praise this album, or set of albums enough. I had the original LPs and the best of CD, but this is such a complete set. What's really great is the fact that each CD is in a miniature of its original album cover and there are some extra tracks too. Highly recommend to anyone.

These albums fill a large gap in the music collection

There are some songs on these CD had I have not heard of - I thought it would be more of their most popular one. But it is good.

I have often thought of buying these classic albums from Simon & Garfunkel. As a teenager in the 60's I heard them all the times around friends houses. The special offer price of £7.10, including P&P, for all three together was irresistible. A real bargain.
