If Dogs Run Free

I would have liked to have this for a book after my dog was mutilated by a drug dealer at age seven. I am sure it would have made me feel better. Its profound and not profane on a kiddie level probably. I like it better than Silver stein even.

When "If Dogs Run Free" debuted on the 1970 New Morning album, I thought it was the most wacko song I'd ever heard, and I didn't get it. I was sixteen at the time, but felt the same for at least 40 years after that. No mas! i've since come to love the song, and I thought I was the only one. Then I found this book, and love it every bit as much, maybe even more. It is sweet and rollicking, the pictures capture the spirit SO WELL. I wish it was a book when my two daughters were young. I hope I can read it to grandchildren some day. Is it worth $15 or whatever? Don't even ask.

I love this little book, so filled with joy and whimsy. It will make you feel like a little puppy. Well, almost. It will make you want to run outside in the grass, through the woods on a lovely day, feeling the wind in your hair and leaves brushing your feet. And why not? Be free. Be happy. Be like a little dog once more, a little puppy free and happy. If dogs run free, then why not we?

What can I say? It's Bob Dylan, and that's enough. The children's books such as "If Dogs Run Free" are another marvel by Mr. Dylan. Can he do else? I seriously doubt it. This book is sweet; his book "Man Gave Names to All the Animals" is more beautifully illustrated, I think, and it has a CD of Dylan singing the song that accompanies that book. This book, "If Dogs ~ ~" does not have his music accompanying the book. Bob Dylan has recorded songs mentioning dogs somewhat frequently; he likes dogs, obviously. If it is truly a Bob Dylan work, I want it.

Very cool books for my 5 year old daughter who loves Bob!

My granddaughters loved this book -- 3 and 7 years old

Darling book with gorgeous illustrations. However, I expected there to be a CD of the song itself included. Or at least an online citation to hear it. I'm a Dylan fan but don't know this song. How am I going to sing it if I don't know how it goes? Was disappointed by not being able to sing it to my kid.

The song is lovely the images are magic. I was only able to give it away as a gift because of the loveliness of the recipients

This is such a beautiful book, everyone in the family loves it. Really gorgeous.
