Great for Homebrewing!
I use this cooler as a mash/lauter tun for brewing 5 gallon batches of beer. It also works for high gravity beers as well. It's nice to have the extra space. I lose hardly and heat! If i do, It's maybe one degree over a 1 hour sac rest. Very sturdy and well made. I use a bazooka tube instead of a false bottom. I had to bend the end of the tube a little to get it to fit. Very easy to covert for brewing.

Practical & multi Use
We used this when storm Helene came through. It was extremely useful. Then when storm Milton came through we gave ours to our kids in Asheville who had no water. We just ordered another one for ourselves. Needless to say-get one-you never know. Very practical.

Worked perfectly as a mash tun.
I converted this to a mash tun and it did surprisingly well with very negligible losses of heat throughout my mash schedule. I paired this with a 12" false bottom and stainless steel bulkhead conversion.

Great for converting into a homebrew mash tun!
First off, I purchased this for use as a homebrewer, as a makeshift mash tun. So, if your looking for a review about how awesome this cooler worked, which I'm sure it will, at my kids soccer game, you are out of luck. I have both a 5 gallon and a 10 gallon homebrew setup and I can use this cooler as a mash tun for either. I had to purchase a perforated stainless steel false bottom and a few fittings HomeBrewStuff 12" Stainless Domed False Bottom + Free Silicone Tubing, but this is an easy and inexpensive start, especially for the novice homebrewer looking to expand their skills into partial or full grain brewing.First, I replaced the plastic spigot with a stainless steel ball valve HomeBrewStuff 1/2" Stainless Steel Valve Weldless Bulkhead For Home Brew Kettle, and connected that to the tubing that came with the false bottom. I found that during the mashing process however, I kept losing heat from the mash. It occurred to me that there is a large amount of empty dead air space when brewing a 5 gallon batch and it was causing the heat to escape from the mixture of grains and liquor. I cut two circular pieces of lexan, sandwiched some foam insulation between them and placed a rubber gasket on the circumference to make a lid I could slide into the cooler and adjust the height between the lid and the mash, limiting my heat loss. I would also recommend a copy of Charlie Papazian's The Joy of Homebrewing for tips on how much hot liquor at what temp to add to your mash to keep it up to temp if you have problems with heat loss.

Nice cooler
Really liked this water cooler! Seems nice and sturdy. Only thing it arrived a little dented but it was still usable so we just kept it like that. The package arrived with no foam or anything to protect it probably that’s why that happened.

MASH TUN
Been using this thing as a mash tun for a few years now. I'm starting to see that it's getting warped a bit from all the hot water I throw in there. That's OK. This thing has worked well enough. Holds temps well even on cold days.

good heat tolerant cooler for mash tun
use for my mash tun; when pre-heated with boiling water it will hold my mash within 2-3F easily for 60 minutes and more. replaced the spigot w ith a 3 part ball value and some silicon washers. no leaks. have used to make several 6 gallon batches of beer. I think you could probably do up to a mash 25lbs of grain which would take you to a 10-11 gallon batch of beer, but I haven't tried that much . . . . yet.

4th of July camping with my iGloo
I bought the iGloo to take camping at the beach. We used to buy a ton of water bottles to make sure the kids say hydrated. Of course, they loose the bottles or mix them up with the other kids (yuck). We decided to get this and keep if filled with ice water and have the kids use reusable water bottles. Its sturdy!!!!! I read a complaint about the rope that holds the lid on. Well funny thing is that on the way to the beach, I saw no less then three coolers (only one was a water cooler lid) on the side of the highway. My lid holds tight, but I'm betting those other people wish they had a rope :)
