This thing is wonderful. 1 Inch hole required.
This item is perfect for what it does. It's an actual bulkhead fitting instead of a nipple with O-rings.For the record, the item is "S/S Bulkhead 1/2" FPT x 1/2" MPT" from "Homebrewers Outpost" Amazon item B074D9KKCY. I have to make sure this is clear since Amazon tends to mix reviews from different products together. The bulkhead is beautifully cast and machined stainless steel with a nice silicone gasket. The other review has nice pictures of it.About the only thing that would make the product better is in the listing. It would be helpful for the purchaser to know that the way the gasket is arranged it requires a one inch hole.I had to drill out my igloo cooler to fit that so I won't be going back to using it as a water jug. This was perfect for converting the cooler to a mash tun. No leaks on the first try!

Get this Bulkhead for HD cooler conversion
This is the bulkhead you need for the current 10 Gal HD Rubbermaid cooler MLT conversion. Get this and save the headache of trying other bulkheads that all leak. Works amazing, fits perfectly. Might not be long enough for some rectangular coolers with thick sides.

This thing is not going to leak, but requires a 1" hole.
This bulkhead connector is a brute! The integrated flange and flat gasket will ensure that the maximum seal area is provided even with oversized holes (see caveat). I have used two and installation is a breeze. HOWEVER, one caveat... This connector requires a 1" hole, not the usual 13/16" hole found in most boiling pots. You will need a good SHARP two flange step drill to enlarge the hole and de-burr it. Seal is made on the outside of the kettle or tank with a silicone flat sealing washer. Inside includes a large washer installed before the nut to prevent scuffing against the wall of the kettle or tank. This flange should be usable on a plastic tank, but I have not tried it.Inside is a female NPT thread that will take a torpedo filter -screen directly or will require a chase nipple if a male extension is needed for a dip tube.Recommended for larger pots or ones (like the GasOne) that has the pot's curve flattened. Not recommended for a replacement for a flange that is already working unless you want a great upgrade.

Good quality
Think I have bought about 25 of these for my brew house and winery. Use them when I build my own kettles and fermenters.

Utility sink faucet retrofit
I know this was marketed as a home brew spigot adapter (or something like that), but it was exactly what I needed to retrofit my new faucet to old plumbing on my utility sink.I didn’t need the bulkhead gasket for my application, so I ditched it.Looks fantastic. Seller should consider marketing as a residential or commercial plumbing fitting, because I know for a fact the box stores don’t sell this and I bet the plumbing supply stores charge 5x.

Best investment upgrade!!! Major improvement!!!
The best upgrade I could have done. Worth the additional cost, Hands Down!I purchased 2 ball valves for my old homebrew kettle, they included the bulkheads and seals. Long story short, they were used a few times and we're always a pain to prevent from leaking. When I purchased a new kettle, I was determined to find a better option. I reused my ball valves and other hardware but bought these bulkheads. The seal on these with the addition of the built in washer and nut is the best setup. They don't have to be overly tight, the hole is a little larger but it's worth it because the inside of the bulkhead is internally threaded for accessories on the inside of the kettle. The bulkhead seals to the rounded shape of the kettle perfectly.

Great bulkhead fitting for mash tun
This is exactly what I needed to convert my Rubbermaid (Home Depot) 10 gallon beverage cooler in to a beer brewing mash tun. One end is male threaded 1/2" NPT to attach to ball valve, the other end is female threaded 1/2" NPT to attach a hose bard (going to false bottom). The hex and washer in the middle of the nipple are integral, so only one gasket is needed on the outside. Great product!
