Amazing sourdough
I am so happy with my Rye Soviet sourdough! It came fast, it was a lot of starter, instruction was super easy to follow and my sourdough double the size same day!!! I baked rye bread after 2 days of feeding and bread came out gorgeous and tasty. I will definitely buy other sourdough from this seller.

Wow this is the best starter I have ever bought! The photo above is after less then 24 hours after getting it in the mail! I can’t believe how great its growing already. A friend of mine in another state recommended this product because she has been using it for years with fabulous results! It makes delicious bread!!I was confused about how to feed it after the first day and I contacted the seller and ANOTHER WOW on the customer service. He contacted me back within a few minutes and we had a great conversation via text and he told me to keep his number and I was welcome to text back anytime I had a problem or question. Then after we finished talking, he sent me complete instructions on what to do and I was blown out of the water at how wonderful and understanding he was!My thanks to JOE at the Living Dough!!

Couldn’t be happier with this product. First starter I’ve ever bought or used, I went with the Black Death starter.It arrived early. It was revived and active by the next day after the initial feeding. It was fresh and smelled amazing. I fed it once more just to be sure it was going strong and then made a loaf. This was less than three days after receiving it. The bread is spectacular - great flavor & texture, and really fun to make. Highly recommend this company for a quality starter that has so much history behind it.

The best starter I have used in 25 years
This starter is wonderful. My post office has very short hours of operation so my starter sat in the post office for 4 days after delivery before I could pick it up and it became ready to use after the second feed, quadrupling in size after feeds. I have never seen a sourdough starter that is this healthy and strong before.It took me 2 days after it arrived to go get the right flour because I realized the flour I had stored in my pantry was infested with weevils and I live in the mountains 2 hours away from anywhere that sells the right flour. So the starter went 6 days without a feed and was ready to bake after 2 feeds!The seller is also wonderful, I contacted them when I realized my flour can’t be used to see if another type of flour I had would work and they were very prompt and helpful with their response.This is a fabulous deal, honestly I would pay $50 for a tablespoon of it if that’s what they charged but they are selling it for a very generous price. Buy this starter, you can beat it up and it will survive.

Amazing GF starter worth it’s weight in gold!
This is an amazing live and very strong starter! 100% gluten free with rice flour. It took a week to get to me, but it came back to life after 1 feeding! I have made some wonderful bread with it, tastes great and had a great crumb for GF.

Wonderful starter!!!
I have tried to start my own sourdough starter but have not been so lucky.I bought the 900 yr old starter. This arrived within a week. It looked good and smelled as expected (fermented). I used the quick instructions. Within 2 days it was ready to use. It has been super easy to maintain and make quick and easy recipes.Will definitely recommend!

Easy to use, makes great bread, and with great customer service!
OMG. I just made my first loaf (no-knead sourdough bread recipe from the NY Times) with the San Francisco starter, and it is amazing! Chewy, flavorful, almost nutty, with a really satisfying crumb and texture. Not only that, but I had a (stupid) question when I first got the starter in the mail, and I got an almost instant response from Joe, who not only answered my questions, but was thorough and really nice. This is my first experience with making sourdough, and this starter made it easy. Tomorrow, Cheese Board-style sourdough cheese rolls! made the cheese rolls today. Another winner! I should mention that the starter didn't require a lot of care - I was baking on day 3, after just 2 feedings.
