The story is about Mori Buntarou, an introverted high school student who discovers a profound connection with mountain climbing. Buntarou is introduced to climbing through a school club and quickly becomes obsessed with it….not just as a sport, but as a personal calling.Sakamoto’s art direction towards this story is probably one of the most remarkable that I have seen in the manga industry, his surreal details really shines when it comes to the depiction of the cinematic, yet sublime views of the mountains or the psychological body horror moments.Definitely a must-read.

Hasn't been released in English, but I read an online translation back in high school. Certainly a classic in its own right. Mori is an intriguing character with his own motivations and we get to watch his journey over the years. Great story with amazing art throughout.
