Easy testing
I wanted a device to measure the PH of my garden Grow Boxes. These are self watering planters that I grow various vegetables in. PH of the potting soil is important to good yield and healthy plants. I sued the including calibration powder and calibrated the tool using the meticulous instructions included in the package. After this I scooped up some potting soil into a plastic container and mixed it with water and shook it vigorously. The PH meter showed that my pepper plants were growing in soil that was too high in PH, probably from our mineral laden water. I also tested the water in our hot tub. It was right where it was supposed to be at 7.2 This is much more accurate and convenient to test than those litmus strips where you have to color match and guess what color you are seeing. I see a long future for this device around the house because of it's convenience and accuracy.

We have a failure to calibrate
I'm not sure I can give this PH meter a fair review because I don't know if the failure to calibrate is mine or the meter's.The meter needs to be calibrated, according to very tiny instructions, against three levels of PH. Included in the kit are three packets of PH solution: 4.00, 6.86 and 9.18, all three to be calibrated as a solution at 77 degrees Fahrenheit. The meter calibrated just fine in the 4.00 and 6.86 solutions, but refused to calibrate with the 9.18 solution, displaying "ERR." As a result, the meter is not fully calibrated and therefore not useable to me.I'm confident I completed the calibration instructions correctly, so I am at a loss as to why the meter did not fully calibrate. The meter itself seems well made and of quality plastic. The LED readout is small but readable. The instruction booklet is written is something like 1 point type, as tiny as you can get, but it is, largely, understandable. So take this review for what it's worth, which may not be much.Update: in my research I have read that a 2-point calibration is possible (using 4.00 and 6.86 solution), but that a three-point (9.18) calibration makes the meter more accurate. So it appears that my meter is not useless, just not as accurate as it could be.

Good for skincare products
I make a lot of different diy skincare products such as serums, lotions, creams etc. My preservatives require specific pH ranges in order for peak performance and functionality. Calibration of this device was relatively simple using the included powder. I made a skin serum about 2 weeks ago and I re-checked its pH today with this device and litmus paper to confirm it’s accuracy. I received the same result using each method. This is easy to use and easy to clean, despite the texture of my products.

HIgh quality but also highly specialized....
This is a rechargeable pH ('power of Hydrogen') meter and temp gauge. It is well constructed and easy to use. The rechargeable function is a blessing,The type of sensor on this is designed to be kept moist and the cap contains a special solution to do so. This needs to be rinsed off after each use in plain water and then stored with the cap on.It is easily calibrated the first time out to 4.0 pH with the included powder and additional adjustments aren't probably needed. Temp is also given (on the backlit screen) and can be reported in F or C. There is a hold function to freeze the readings so that you can easily view the results.Very nicely (solidly) built with clear functionality. Has a loop to attach a wrist cord (to keep the device from falling in the water) but no wrist cord is included. You can probably fashion one out of some light cord or a rubber band.Note that this is NOT a salinity tester so if you are thinking of this for a salt pool, it's not the most appropriate tool. Other testers offer pH, salinity, TDS, temp and more iin a single unit so f you need those metrics, keep shopping.

Works well for Fermenting and Canning
I pulled the back end off to see what it looked like inside and found that it's sealed the same way a battery operated tooth brush is sealed. There is a rubber flap to lift for charging. It has the same charging cord as a game station so make sure you don't misplace it since it's not very common. The instructions are tiny so get out your magnifying glass. Prepare calibration solutions in 3 clean containers with 1 cup of distilled water each. Fully dissolve each packet in the water using different stirrers. Calibrate according to the directions and be sure to clean the meter between each test in clean distilled water. I watched an instruction video on calibration before starting and it helped make things go a lot easier. It appears to be accurate because I use it for fermenting. The meter is lit, easy to read, well made, has a storage cap and is a good value for your money.

Unreadable instructions
Mine are in English, but they're just as useless as if they were not. I literally had to get a magnifying glass to confirm that they were in English, much less to read them. The font is in the maybe 6ish point range. I'm not going to stand there with a magnifying glass and various liquids and juggle all that nonsense because someone is too cheap to provide instructions in a sane size. Full stop. Not happening.
