Kings' Classic is still a great watch
I have always loved Cujo. It is one of those dead simple yet very effective films that manages to draw you in and keep you in to the end without you even really realising it. Shockingly violent, brutal in delivery and underrated in the main, it deserves a place on the shelf of any 80s terror film lover. All the performances are solid even with a somewhat thin script and the special effects are really good. The make up job on Cujo himself is as amazing as it is disturbing. Some cliches are to be expected but there are enough really effective jump scares and 'OMG!' moments to keep everybody happy. It's not Shawshank or The Shining but it is a rock solid entry in the King Canon.

"F--k you, dog"
Cujo was filmed in 1983 on a $5,000,000 budget, and was another film based on a Stephen King book. It's about a St.Bernard called Cujo who is out playing running after rabbits, when the rabbit goes down it's hole, Cujo sticks his head in the hole and begins barking loudly. The barking wakes up the bats that were sleeping in the hole, and Cujo gets bitten on the nose. Donna Trenton is an unhappy housewife who is cheating on her husband Vic, when Vic finds out about her cheating he goes away on a business trip to clear his head. Donna and her son Tad go to the Camber residence to have their car repaired, but when they arrive it appears that nobody's home. Suddenly they are attacked by the now rabid Cujo, and are stuck in their car that won't start. The acting is way above average for a reasonably low budget horror movie, but the main star is Cujo, if the rabid dog hadn't been so convincing then the movie would have been a disaster. Dee Wallace plays Donna, she is excellent and shows a great range of emotions as the terrified mother trying to protect her son. As a huge horror fan, Dee Wallace has been a favourite actress of mine for a long time having starred in The Stepford Wives, The Howling, Critters, Popcorn and The Frightners. 6 year old Danny Pintauro gave a very decent performance as Tad, just after making Cujo he went on to appear for nearly 10 years as Jonathan Bower in Who's The Boss? It was directed by Lewis Teague, the director of Alligator, Cat's Eye, Jewel In The Nile and a guilty pleasure of mine called Navy Seals. He's a very capable director and he really keeps the tension turned all the way up once Cujo attacks, and in lesser hands the film could have become boring. The make up effects on Cujo are brilliant, he becomes more mangy as the movie progresses and really does change from a family pet to a slobbering, disgusting monster. The make up team also did an excellent job on Donna and Tad as well, the longer they're stuck in the hot car the more pasty and dry their skin gets. There's no nudity and suprisingly little gore, but the film is a real edge of the seat type of movie. The region 2 version of the film is a pretty terrible bare bones disc, the region 1 American 25th anniversary edition that i'm reviewing is massively superior. The picture is much better and in the correct aspect ratio, there's an excellent commentary by director Lewis Teague and a very informative documentary with the cast and crew. A little trivia, Cujo means unstoppable force in ancient Indian, Peter Medak was originally set to direct, it was shot in the same town as the excellent 1981 film Dead And Buried, apparently Stephen King was drinking so much at the time he wrote Cujo that he claims he doesn't even remember writing it.The movie is a 3 to 3.5 film for me, but the region 1 25th anniversary edition is so much better than ours that the disc itself is probably 5 stars. so i'll go with 4 stars overall as it's a good package. An absolute must for a fan of King adaptations, and a great film for any fan of suspenseful horror.

First time on Blu Ray in the UK
I will not talk about the movie much to avoid spoilers. I really want to talk about the Blu Ray release itself.I watched Cujo for the first time just a few days ago. The dog acted superb and so did the child actor. However for some reason, I did feel a little sad for the dog which is a Saint Bernard. Overall the movie is good for It's time, which released back in 1983.This is the first time Cujo has been released in the UK on Blu Ray by Eureka. This Limited Edition comes with two Blu Ray Discs. Disc two is a bonus disc, which is Exclusive to the Limited Edition. Disc one contains the full feature movie and bonus extras. Disc two also has extras. Overall you get seven hours of bonus content. The Presentation of the packaging is stunningly gorgeous. The outer cardboard casing is very strong and sturdy. It has a smooth Matt finish, and comes with a glossy information card. The newly commissioned artwork on the outer casing is beautiful to look at. It looks like an oil painting. The actual Blu Ray case inside, is clear plastic, which slips inside the outer casing. It comes with a reversible cover art.Included is a 60 page booklet that includes, behind the scenes, interviews, and promo posters.Limited to 4,000 copies worldwide.RatingMovie 8/10Picture 8/10Sound 8/10Extras 7/10Presentation 10/10REGION BOverall I'm happy with this purchase of Cujo. Eureka have done an excellent job of bringing this to Blu Ray for the first time in the UK.Overall Rating8.5/10

CUJO’S A CLASSIC & A MUST HAVE FOR YOUR HORRO COLLECTION
5 stars for the film 4 stars for the 4K transfer & 5 stars for the packaging. Cujo 4K & Blu Ray comes with a gorgeous slipcover looks great on the shelf! Transfer was decent still could use some work but overall I’m more than satisfied. Dts 5.1 & 2.0 sounded great! Lots of extras lots of interviews & the making of Cujo, however sadly their were no deleted scenes or alternative versions etc. Definitely glad I got it for $40. $35 would have been a more reasonable price. Close enough it’s Christmas . Thanks Amazon & Happy holidays! 🎄 🎅

Me da mucha rabia... Repito, nunca a solas...
