The Child: An Audible Drama

It really does take you on a terrible and horrific journey
Robert and his ex-wife Sophie lost a child to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome 10 years ago, which has left Robert devastated. Sophie has remarried and is now a mother to twin girls. It is difficult to say whose story this is, is it Roberts or Simons, but it is a tale that brings them together with an intriquing plot of re-incarnation. Simon is given a regression in order to help him not to be scared of dying.Set in Berlin, it does not give you a scenic description of the place nor does it endear you. It really does take you on a terrible and horrific journey. If you are going to write a psychological thriller then this is the way to do it, and if you are going to read one then you can’t get better than this. The Child starts and ends brilliantly and is a novel that grips you and makes you sit there and read till the last page.I am rarely speechless about a novel but this one has it all, mystery, excitement, drama, it is simply a novel to get your teeth into. It covers a dark subject that is quite upsetting, it tells of murder and blackmail and leads you steadily and cleverly to the final twist.Sebastian Fitzek is an author that I will be watching out for.

Heart-racingly good
There were several chapters that proved extremely difficult to read, so be warned. There is nothung light-hearted about this book.Having said that, Simon was an absolute delight and I fell completely in love with his positive character. Stick with it through all of its torturous twists and turns, and rest assured that all tricksy situations will be resolved and your questions answered. However, it will spit you out somewhere stickily uncomfortable...

weak and disappointing.
It is extraordinary that so many people have rated this book so highly. The start is interesting but already includes enough inconsistencies and co-incidences to make me worry about the creaking plot. I read on because I could not believe so many reviewers could be so wrong and I kept expecting the story to take off. It didn't. Lots of rambling and contrived stuff that could have been made less ful (though no more compelling) with some serious editing leads us to the denouement which was as completely unbelievable as it was clear that it would have to be. Even the translation was unpleasantly clunky. Naturally not speaking any other language fluently I could not have done better, but it surprises me that a copy editor did not change some of the most glaring instances of colloquies so from different decades that clashed when they popped up. Others have said that this book is not as good as others by the same author. All I can say if that this feeble nonsense doesn't inspire me to try any others. Very disappointing indeed.

Intense thriller
Mr Fitzek writes intense psychological thrillers that hurtles along leaving you to catch up behind them. Very good, unexpected twists and turns with barely a pause for breath in between. I've read nearly all of his books and can always guarantee a good read when I buy a new one.

Somewhat dissapointing
After reading the reviews for this I was expecting to get my mind blown away. All I can say is people must be easily pleased. For me the story lacked something and it was just quite - unbelievable to the point of becoming a fantasy tale of cops and villains. Good cops bad cops Sorry the plot did nothing for me at allSimon the young boy wasn't believable . In fact none of the characters were
