Great for sensitive stomachs!
I was a little nervous ordering this product, at first. My 2 year-old chihuahua terrier puppy has always had a severely sensitive stomach and has been on on hills veterinary prescription hypoallergenic dog food since almost Day 1. In the past, we have tried other dog foods, including sensitive stomach recipes, grain-free and limited-ingredient formulas, and even other brands of veterinary prescription hypoallergenic dog foods; all to no avail. Within only 2 hours of even tasting any of these other dog foods (which the taste was apparently also something to be desired), he would howl to go outside to relieve himself. His resulting stools were always completely liquid puddles, which he would strain to pass, and would retain a laxative effect that caused him frequent painful, liquid stools for several days before transitioning to solid again, only after re-introducing his strict hypo- diet. Because of his incredibly sensitive stomach, I have not tried another dog food brand for nearly two years and have instead routinely paid $75/bag monthly for Hill's hypo. Though this food has never once caused him to have tummy upset like anything and everything else, he began getting recurrent ear infections for the last 4 or 5 months, which caused me to believe that there had to be a better alternative to the expensive junk I was currently buying, and hopefully one he would truly enjoy eating. After lots of research as to which ingredients and formulas seem to work best for dogs with food sensitivities, I found this brand and tentatively weighed my options. There were a few other brands I was willing to try, though the price point was at least 30% per ounce than what I was already paying. My next alternative was to attempt to homemake my own dog food for him, which I couldn't be more nervous about doing. I was initially interested in purchasing the digestive care line, but it was only available in a 25# bag, which I knew would be a complete waste of money if it was a failure like all the others. The sensitive skin formula seemed like it was a decent option, especially since it came in a smaller bag that I could try or give to my neighbor, if it also failed. With much consideration, I finally decided to order a small package of the sensitive skin formula. Because of my dog's history, I tried to mix his prescription diet evenly with the new Diamond Care kibble, but had a bit of difficulty since the kibbles were almost identical. To my amazement, he loved and devoured every last bite of the mixture and begged for more. Nervously, I denied him and waited several hours. And then I waited several more hours. And then I realized it was just about time for his regular nightly poop. I took him out and voila! A totally normal, solid poop. No puddles, no straining, nothing. I offered him more of the Diamond care in increasing ratios of his prescription diet until I was only pouring the Diamind Care kibble into his bowl. He loved it and his poops stayed totally solid and the ear infections ceased! He has now been eating this dog food exclusively for the last 5 weeks with no problems at all. I have never been so happy for my lil pup and plan to repurchase, in a larger bag, from here on out. Very satisfied with this dog food formula as well as it's reasonable pricing. To compare, Hill's hypo was $75 for a 17 lb bag. Overall, the sensitive skin formula is great for sensitive stomachs, as well!

Great Food for our “Sensitive” Lab!!
Maggie, our 10 year-old black lab, has always had a sensitive stomach. Most of her poops have been runny and very smelly. It was not unusual for her to vomit at least once a week. She can not eat any dog food with chicken in it- her BM’s would 10x worse! I hesitated to order Diamond Care (Sensitive Stomach) as it seemed all about puppies but I didn’t know what else to do. Maggie loves the flavor and immediately ate it out of my hand. It’s only been a 3 days but so far no runny poops, no smell and no vomiting. I highly recommend this product- I love that it contains no grain or dyes but does contain probiotics! I bought the 8lb. bag to see if she likes it. Now that I know— I just ordered the 25 pound bag to arrive every 5 weeks!Update: We are now 3 weeks in & still no runny poops, no vomiting & no smell! This dog food is awesome! Thank you!

Sodium???
My dog did not like the taste however it did seem to help her food allergy, however while she was on this food for two bags worth she was drinking tons of water and I mean tons. So I took her to the vet and they said it was probably the food, I showed them what I was using and they recommended I change which I have , no water intake and pee breaks are back to normal, so you may want to inquire about salt and or sodium content in the food or processing formula.

GIVE IT TIME!
My 2 pitbulls have allergies and skin disease. This seems to be the best product I've discovered and I've tried many! Like anything else it takes a few months before you notice a difference.

When all else fails, this is the food to get for dogs with sensitive stomachs!
Long story short: If you've tried other "sensitive stomach" dog foods and had no luck, this is the one to get. Dogs love the taste and it helps TREMENDOUSLY with keeping consistent regular bowel movements.I have a 70 lbs German Shepard mix that my family adopted about three years ago. The rescue knew nothing about her history other than she was found as a stray hiding in a swamp. While she is an incredible dog, after a couple of months we discovered that she would stop eating her food, have horrible diarrhea, or both. We went to the vet, we tried all different types of commercial dog food, and we even started making food for her. No matter what food we tried, she would do great for one or two months, and we'd start all over again. After going through a special diet protocol with our vet, we found that other than some grains, she really wasn't allergic to much. Unfortunately, her stomach just seems to act up occasionally and when it does she would have severe bowel issues. After trying multiple attempts at different foods including the Hills ID food, I happened to find this one. It's been a life saver. Not only does our dog love the taste of it (as well as our other dog who tries to sneak bites of it all the time), but no matter how her stomach is doing she doesn't get sick or have accidents anymore. We're going on over 6 months with this food and, while she may have occasional stomach flare ups, she continues to enjoy her food and have regular consistent bowel movements. I firmly believe the combination of being limited ingredient, the protein coming from eggs and potatoes not meat, being grain free, and the probiotics make all the difference. If you're familiar with FortiFlora as well as we are, you'll love this food for your dog.
