Work to help with pain
My daughter has been experiencing severe knee pain after soccer season. She is currently in physical therapy and was having pain with that also. The therapist recommended this exact product to help stabilize her knee cap while she heals and works to permanently fix the problem. She has reported that these help very much and she is able to get through the day with much less pain and she can do the therapy. These are very good for any type of issue with the kneecap. We were told they are not meant for structural support needed for an ACL type injury. They just help hold the kneecap in place. These are very similar to the stretch tape the school's athletic trainer used on her during the season, they are just easier to put on and remove. The goal is for her to only need these sporadically in the future once she stabilizes the kneecaps through therapy. They will be back ups for games, practices and conditioning also just in case. For a kneecap issue, these work well.

Comfortable. True to size
These are perfect for my daughter. I was looking at the bird and cronin straps but they weren't available to ship until after the soccer season was nearly over. These are virtually the same thing and a little less expensive. My daughter had tried a set that had plastic loops on the sides and they ripped up her skin while playing. She said these are 100x more comfortable and they stay in place better (some slight slipping takes place though). The velcro seems to be wearing out faster than I'd hoped, but I will simply replace the velcro with something more durable iwhen it goes bad. Don't try to size up or down if your measurements are within a half inch. Use the size guide.

These work.
I used a Chopat for a knee issue that started 25 years ago. Purchased several as the years went buy. Decided to purchase similar item that was less expensive. It works ok, not nearly as good as the Chopat. I am 62 years old. I go up and down 63 steps, 25 times. That’s a lot of steps. I do that 4 times a week and walk 4 to 5 miles in addition to the steps. I always feel a twinge of pain with the other knee item, but never with the Chopat. Worth the extra money. The only issue with the Chopat is the velcro. It sometimes rubs and irritates the skin on the back of the knee. You just have to adjust it to eliminate the issue. The other item had the velcro on the front, so it never irritated my skin. The other product also stretched out very quickly and needed to be replaced more often. The Chopat is a much better quality.

A true godsend for no cartilage left
I walk/hike 20-30 miles/week consistently. I have no cartilage left on my knees - already had microfracture surgery 14 years ago and since I have NO structural issues with my knees at all, surgery is not recommended as they have no solutions yet. These little straps have been a true godsend for continuing my activity and keeping me mobile! I have literally ZERO pain when I hike and walk with these magical little things in place. I don't quite get how they work, but I'm immensely grateful for them with every pain-free hike I do! HIGHLY recommend.

Great support, but velcro digs into skin
I had to trim down the velcro and restitch, and also wear one inside out to position the velcro, all to minimize scratching. Velcro plastic edges on the skin is quite uncomfortable.Otherwise, very good knee support.
