Some weight issues between high 3/low top 4 Targhee, and gray sole color.
I bought the "Dark Olive/Gold Flame" version of this shoe. I was expecting a lighter gray around the sole (as shown in the posted pictures), but the color is darker gray; almost the same shade as the dark olive. Which is a plus, for me; since I prefer colors that blend better. The shoe is a little heavy for a low top (actually heavier than the high-top Targhee 3's that I have), but not so heavy that it really matters. Hopefully that means they're more durable; but since I have yet to take this pair hiking, I can't review that. I'll update when I get these into the mountains. I give them 5 stars now because I like that the shade of gray differs from what is advertised, and I don't mind a heavier weight for a low top.

Comfortable shoes
KEEN Men's Targhee 4 Vent Durable Breathable Hiking Shoes. I really enjoyed having these hiking shoes when I recently went to an amusement park. My feet stayed pretty comfortable after hours of standing and walking up and around mostly cement terrain but with hills. There was also dirt and mulch areas and these performed well. These are not just for men. I loved the toe space in these shoes when compared to my other Keens which are a Terradora Leather mid wp-w Hiking Shoe Timber/Cornstalk. These hiking shoes are just a little shorter than my mid in height but the women’s shoe is a lot narrower and fits kind of tight but not these. I knew these were heavier than wearing a tennis shoe but my feet were not hot and were a lot more comfortable with more support and a tougher sole and with potential cold temps as well they would keep my feet warmer. They did allow some water in even though I tightened them up just before getting water splashed on them but seemed quick to dry out. I actually wore these with a lightweight cotton quarter crew which worked out great but could also pair them with some thicker boot socks. Just a note that I do double knot these because for some reason these types of laces easily come untied. The only negative I have is that I would have preferred the material on top of the toe be a darker color as it does really stand out and looks a little funny to me. I cannot wait to try these out on actual trails.

Fantastic Trail Shoes
To be honest, I wear boots almost 100% of the time and I wasn’t sure about ordering low top footwear. These kids are much more comfortable than I ever imagined. It’s wonderful to have a pair of shoes that are not boots. These have been great for hiking as well as more casual outings. Look great and feel great.

These are tanks, super-troopers of hiking shoes. Solid, feel good. Look great.
From top to bottom, insole to outer sole, these are a truly solid pair of hiking shoes. From the construction of the lace loops to the upcant of the sole in the front (trip prevention), I really am impressed.First, let me just say I have hiking many thousands of miles, so have some good experience from which to offer an opinion. I have used both runners as well as light weight and heavy weight hiking boots, and these sort of cross between the two. Runner and boot.Since they are only ankle height, more a runner style. However, they are indeed built a bit like a tank, thus the solid boot style construction. They follow a course of layering. The undersole and tread, wrapping around the outer foot, is all waterproof and hard. Solid. Good grip. Well made. They then move to a more rugged, yet flexible material from the edge of the outer sole to the top of the boot, the tongue and laces. Then it is a breathable material, not waterproof, which will offer air and circulation, while minimizing area for splash into the foot domain. It's a nice and well executed design. They feel good on the feet immediately, which is always a good sign. Even after a bit of a test walk, there was no area of concern, pinching or pulling, etc. Again, a good sign. No guarantee that issues might yet show themselves. At the same time, no immediate even yellow flags bodes very well. The only area I would say I had a thought I would have seen "better" would have been with the insole. I consider a bit more thickness and support might have been possible, even preferable. While not a major issue at all, and in the end, perhaps even better they didn't, as things sometimes play out poorly with initial softness turning to pinchy bits... If that is something of care, aftermarket insoles are easy enough to come by.Oh, and these really do simply look great. Rock solid hiking vibe, here. Nailed it.For me, I can anticipate these seeing 1000+ miles, depending on how they hold up over time. Will have to take it 100 at a time, but from an initial report perspective, things are starting out strong.

Heavy, seems to run large.
This hiking shoe seems to run a half size large. It is also a bit heavy, but has a sturdy toe cap and aggressive outsole. The upper also incorporates recycled materials, which is nice.On the other hand, I did notice some scuffs and spots of excessive glue on each shoe, which was unexpected. Overall, I’m not too sure about these hiking shoes; they seem too heavy for long hiking sessions and the sizing didn’t work for me.

Best shoes I own
These are excellent hiking shoes. Built very well, fit well, and look great. I’ve always loved Keens because of the wide toe box. These are possibly my favorite pair (have owned a few in the past). You won’t be disappointed.
