The 'Dewonme Bird House, Outdoor Natural Bird Houses for Garden, Handmade from Natural Wood' arrived in a plain box.As, my wife and I are often out photographing wild birds, we have also made our garden bird friendly, so much so for the last three years we have had birds nesting in our garden in a homemade nest box, but we would like to attract more, and that is where I had hoped this stylish bird box would come in.The user is required to install the perch by pushing it in, though for the species I am interested in I would leave it off to avoid predators gaining access.As I mention stylish, this is a nice design bird box, however there are a few issues that I have encountered which means I will not be using it, so as not to endanger the birds.Much of this bird box has been assembled using a nail gun, but what has possibly been missed is that several of the nails have been left protruding on the inside, where the young are to be potentially reared. Also there is a flap on the rear which is held by a single screw which gives some access, however I believe at least 3 of the wood strips, preferably at the bottom should have been screwed in place so they can be removed at the end of the season to allow thorough cleaning. Also if there had been screw on strips, access to cut the protruding nails would have been available.If this bird house had not had nails sticking out on the inside, and an easy method had been provided for access for cleaning the inside, I would have certainly given it 5 stars, but as it is I can only give it 2 stars.It would have also been nice if instructions on cleaning and maintaining this bird house were included for those new to bird boxes.I do hope the issues I have raised are eliminated in future versions as I would love to have one of these in the garden.

This is the best looking birdhouse I have ever seen. It's just so well made, you can smell the wood it's made from and the finish is just incredible. I don't think I would ever gush over such a thing, but here it is. It's so lovely you would think it was homemade with love.This comes with a hook to hand, but we shall be putting something else on the back so we can put it on the tree trunk. Not a big deal. This will be replacing a small cheap birdhouse where the hole is way too small and the years it's been there, not one single bird could get in! The hole on this birdhouse is slightly bigger so plenty big enough for the smaller birds we always have in our garden.Honestly, buy it. You will not be disappointed, This is an absolute bargain!

On the surface, this cute little wooden bird box looks like it would make the perfect birdhouse for your feathered garden visitors. However, disappointedly, there has been a lack of care and attention to the finished product and it could do with greater quality control.There were a number of splinters hanging off of the house and the round hole for the entryway is really rough and jagged to the touch. The house is made from two pieces of wood for the front and back with slats nailed on and around to make the roof and floor. Some of the nails have completely missed their mark and are sticking out either on the outside of the box or worse yet, on the inside. (see photos)To make this box usable I will have to pass it over to someone with a bit of woodworking skills to finish it off properly and make it safe to use. The current price of this item is £21.99 and I just think that buyers would expect something a little better quality for that price point. Such a shame because I do like the style and this could have been great.

I ordered the Dewonme Outdoor Natural Bird House. This is quite a rustic wooden bird house. It has an unusual slightly curved base, but it will still stand up on its own and I would think it is flat enough inside for baby birds. The hole size is 4cm, mine is just under at 3.8cm. It comes with a double ended hooked chain and also some thick twine to hang it up. You can attach the perch outside by pushing It through the little hole. At the back is a little flap opening peep hole which can also be opened to add some air. This is quite roughly finished and the opening for the birds may need sanding. However it has a rustic sort of charm and I quite like it.

I received this item via the vine programme and here is my honest and unbiased review.At first this looks lovely, but on closer inspection it really isn't so good.The outside looks good enough, but I question the stain, and doubt it is actually anything that will help preserve the wood.The inside is not so good, it has nails not in the right places and could cause injury to any birds who might take up residence.For £21.99 I would expect better than this,Meh!2 stars

It smells of newly sawn ceder wood. Very aromatic. It's very nicely made I'm impressed. It looks much better in the flesh than the listing photos.I'm especially glad that the entrance hole is actually big enough for a bird. A lot of bird houses have a tiny hole and I have watched little tits pecking away trying to make it big enough to squeeze in.It comes ready assembled you just need to find the place it's going to rest. I'm putting mine under the shed roof away from predator access and harsh winds. There's a metal loop on the top for hanging also.It's truly lovely and one of the better ones I've had also very attractive so you do get what you pay for and quite often cheap isn't always good value. I'll see in time if the birds thinks so too. They don't always come every year so I may have to wait but it's pretty to look at in the meantime.
