Updated (original below):My original unit was defective. With this being an unknown brand to me, I decided to return the unit and not really take a chance. I was almost immediately contacted by DH's After Sales Support inquiring about my dissatisfaction with an apology. I was assured I received a defective unit and was offered a replacement at no additional charge. I accepted. Costumer service is worth at least 2 stars.I have received the new unit and have had the chance to use it extensively.I have used several goose neck kettles being an avid home roaster for coffee. The temperature control in this unit is accurate -/+ 3-4 °F, which is more than enough accuracy for coffee that I'm doing. The temperature when heating does over shoot because of this variance, though. The 1000 watt base heats the water quickly enough (much faster than stove top), and this unit is actually very quiet during the heating process compared to the other two kettles I currently own (significantly more quiet) which are more expensive models. The balance is good for the consistent pouring needed for pour over, but you do have to be careful about over pour and water exiting the top of the kettle, but that is a goose neck kettle design, not a particular flaw in this unit, but slightly more noticeable with this model. This unit is a coated stainless steel exterior and coating is a type of lacquer or hi temp paint dip. Handle is comfortable and well designed. There is no plastic inside the kettle except for the lid "detent" nub which I assume is there to prevent the knob on the lid from turning and unscrewing. This plastic shouldn't ever come into contact with the water and could be removed if absolutely necessary for those never plastic folks. The controls are easy to use, keep warm function works as it should, and over all seems to be a functional product. Alarm for when heating temperature is reached is nice, and loud enough to be effective, but not too loud to be an annoyance. You'll definitely want to prepare the unit before using before consumption by boiling several times prior with a diluted mixture of water and vinegar or citric acid. You will notice a slight chemical smell the first few times which is likely a result of the manufacturing process and will go away after the preparation process.Only con I can really say is the unit beeps EVERY time you press a button which is an unnecessary feature and can annoy or wake up others (or worse, alert coworkers to the fact you have fresh coffee headed your way). If that could be a feature that could be toggled that would certainly be an improvement.Over all this is a 4 star unit with customer service bumping it up to a full 5 stars.I will update review if needed as this is used 15-20 times a week so I'll know soon if any issues arise.Original:Leaks around the base. Had to return.

What a poorly made product!
The rust you see on the lid screw was also around the edge and bottom of the kettle inside. I'm sorry but real stainless steel does not rust! I can buy a good stainless steel screw at the hardware store for 18 cents for goodness sakes! The rust appeared after using this kettle ONE TIME so this product was in my home for less than 24 hours before it was returned. This is simply terrible and potentially dishonest manufacturing!J. A. Good kettle
Good product, makes loud beeping noises when you push a button. Reboiling function is not intuitive as it is auto-disabled after removing the kettle from dock, this means you must press it again after pouring.

Disappointed NO more!
This kettle did not work from the get go when I ordered it first time.. I pulled it out of the box, put water in, turned it on and the thing woul not warm the water. I returned it and got a refund. To my big surprise, Doctorhetzner Customer service contacted me and said they will send me a free kettle. Their customer satisfaction is number one. I gave them my order number and, tru to their word, a week later I received the Free kettle. This time it works! It warms water fast, the pot swivels on the base (someone asked about this feature!), and the temp can be adjusted by any number of degrees up to 212 F. Overall, read the directions carefully and enjoy this kettle. I would definitely do business with this company because I trust they will do the right thing.

Useful
This is a nice looking kettle with a compact footprint. The first kettle I received had several issues; however, the seller sent me a replacement which is much better. It is not noisy, the temperature is accurate and the lid fits nicely. The buttons are easy to use.

Works quite well, a couple of very minor flaws
I've been using this electric kettle at least once a day for the past month for pourover coffee and tea. In general, it works quite well and seems to be a good value. The good: It heats to the set temp quickly. The controls are easy to use. It's reasonably accurate (I've checked it with my thermopen). The bad: even though it's on the heavy side, it looses temp fairly quickly; I find that it drops about 7 degrees in the time it takes me to make 1 cup of pourover coffee. It forgets the temp you last set whenever you pick it up. If when you set the kettle down on its pad it would warm to the correct temp without needing to be reset I'd have given it 5 stars. It sometimes overshoots the set temp by a degree or two, but in this case the fact that it looses temp fairly quickly is a win as it drops to the set temp pretty quickly. The hold temp feature works reasonably well, but the temp will vary by a few degrees.I find in the time it takes me to make a cup of coffee (I'm not terribly good at it yet) it drops temp by about 7 degrees. Setting the temp to the upper of my desired range works pretty well, but I also find that while I"m waiting for the water to drip I usually set it back down to heat for a bit. This hasn't been a problem for me.In general, I like it. It's not perfect, but it's also reasonably priced.

Makes a beeping noise whenever you put it on the base, push any button and when the water is boiled
This is not a good kettle if you live with other people who might be asleep when you are using the kettle. I contacted the manufacturer and there is no way to turn off the sound feature.Edited from one to three stars because they gave me the kettle for free which was nice, but there was a ton of back and forth with customer service saying they'd give me a new kettle without a beeping sound, but they didn't in the end because of my address (which they could've looked at beforehand saving us all a lot of time). I know customer service is tough and I like free stuff. It was a mixed bag overall though most companies these days wouldn't do anything to try to make good and they did so that counts for something.
