an ideal tool for international travel
It worked perfectly and exceeded my expectations. This is an ideal communication tool for traveling, checking road signs, and conducting face to face voice conversation translation. I travel a lot and attend some trade shows to talk to international customers, I have been used google translate for some times but not very handy and have some limits especially with large background noise. This portable and compact tool seems have faster response and return , appeared to be more accurate comparable to Google Translate. Similar to a walkie-talkie, you will need to hold the button down to talk and to release it to hear the translated speech. So far I have tested with several languages, and it looked fluent to me. I will be using this for the next trade show.

Being the smartest person in the room...
I work in a lot of different environments as a field engineer. Sometimes, I'm in an area where the language barrier can slow things down. This has helped that very well, but it also allows me to 'eavesdrop' on folks trash-talking me in another language. It's a little slow on processing, but otherwise a good step.

Had a hard time understanding
We have been using this with our spanish speaking extended family and with the children we have who have been taking spanish for 4 years. In our use with our home and in general public settings, we found that more often then not it wouldn't pick up all of the words and missed some parts of the sentence. If it did hear the words, it translated them just fine.I'm not sure how it will work in noisy settings.we will keep trying it as potentially future software updates will resolve some of these problems.

A must-have for traveling abroad
When I opened this translator device, which is only half the size of my palm,I was indeed a little skeptical about its language functions and recording function. However, after using it, it was quite the opposite. Its language recognition and was translation effects are good, and the microphone playback is clear. My family tried it with different voices, and it was able to recognize the translation. I also tried to record more complex words, and occasionally the recognition would go wrong, but after trying again, it was completely correct. Many of its functions are also very useful when I travel, and it’s also very convenient to carry.

Will Not Start - No Support
The media could not be loaded. This device is supposed to work without a network connection, but it does not. I was counting on this, because of security issues, I will not connect it to my network. But when I start it up the device will not initialize; on the screen it reads "Error message: "Initialization failed, please check the network." On June 29 I posted the question "Error message: "Initialization failed, please check the network." How do I get it started without a network? How do I get it started without a network?" So far I have no response and it has been three days.I could turn on the WLAN and it sees my network and apparently needs to connect to it to start. But, as I wrote above, I will not put my network password into an unvetted device. The SIM card will not connect to any cell networks here. There is no headphone jack or TF card as promised in the product manual.

Basically like a repurposed cheap phone. Requires wifi.
This device was a disappointment for me. It looks and feels like a cheap throwaway phone that has been repurposed for translation by loading an app and lots of data. I don't know whether this actually is what they did, but I wouldn't be surprised. The whole thing feels extremely cheap. My other big beef is that it advertises that it works offline --- but you have to attach to wifi and login to use it. It has all the data loaded (at least according to the free-space setting), and clearly is ready to go. I can think of only one reason they would demand that you log in --- and that's to get your info and sell it. I don't like that. If they want to offer up-to-date data, they should allow you to use the device offline out of the box and then OPTIONALLY login to update. So, basically, if you're at all security and privacy minded, it's a nonstarter. This isn't "offline", by any reasonable definition of the word. If they were offering this for $30, maybe I could live with all this --- but for $150, it's a total ripoff in my book. Given that Google Translate can operate offline on your phone, I see no reason to pay $150 for what feels like a junk phone that takes extra space in my pocket.

handy translator comes with all accessories
I just received the package. The pack comes with all the accessories including a protector and the pin for open the SIM card box. Since I use eSIM, I do not have physical SIM card to push into the translator but I may buy SIM card when I travel abroad. I have not used it for many translation jobs yet, hopefully it can get everything accurrate and easy.

Not bad.
This is great for our office as we have people from all over coming in. it can be a little slow but it translates well and it keeps communication going between staff and guests. definitely a great item to have on hand when communication is so important!
