Lets see how it works over time.
We don't have a drying rack by our sink, largely because we also need that area to prepare food. As a result if I wash any dishes or glasses, when they're left to dry on the work top, they build up water on the rims, causing unsightly stains on them. So I was intrigued by these drying mats and thought I'd give them a go.The material used to make the mat is semi-porous and feels not disimilar to some kind of highly pressured foam. Yet it's also stone. Very weird to the touch. The mat is meant to absorb the water instead of it building up and causing staining. It does this very well. The water soon sinks into the mat.My only concern is that, as it isn't a stone surface like the marble it imitates, is that it will also absorb other fluids and dirt over time. That it might not be that hygienic. I notice that it comes with sandpaper to rub down the surfaces and get rid of any staining as you use it. At the moment it works well, but I suspect that it will soon look old, weathered and stained. Time will tell.

Wish these were thicker...
I have been using one, same size, that I attached PTFE (Teflon) sliders (feet) I bought here on amazon, on the bottom of my countertop reverse osmosis unit. All I need to do is to detach the drip tray to increase height of the water spout so I can easily fill taller bottles. A half inch thick Stone Drying Mat would have been just right for my needs. The one with the slider feet attached still didn't give me quite enough room for some of the half gallon milk bottles. Tried to find a thicker one, read through so many listings trying to find the thickness that my eyes felt like they were about to bleed. No idea why the thickness of these mats is so hard to find. I finally gave up and just bought another and stacked it on top of the other one.Not an ideal solution but it works! i looked at listings for appliance slider with wheels but they only rolled out in a straight line. Saw some that used ball bearing as wheels but the reviews were no very good. The Teflon feet work great, they allow me to not only pull it out but also easily rotate it around to remove the tap water reservoir.

Stains way too easily
This had multiple stains on it within the first couple days of use. Not practical for use in a kitchen if you want it to look nice.

Works very well.
This is the first time I’ve had a diatomaceous earth drying mat, and must admit that I’m very impressed with it. Any water dripped on here is absorbed or evaporates in seconds. In about a minute there’s to trace of water visible. This compares to the silicone mat I’m using under a dish drying rack that seems to take hours for the water to evaporate. This is not a large unit, but works well when I rinse off a couple of plates and cups. The ad does state to be careful not to use this with colored liquids such as wine or coffee as those my leave permanent stains. So far mine still looks good, although I could imagine something spilling on it eventually and leaving some marks. There are other similar products on Amazon that have little feet on the bottom or are framed with bamboo. I picked this one specifically because it had none of that. This simply sits on a rubber mesh pad that works well to keep it from sliding around. The bubble wrap that this came in is some of the best that I’ve ever encountered. There should’t be any issues with it arriving damaged due to shipping mishaps. The marble look is fine. It’s not going to fool anything into thinking this is marble, but it is attractive. The back side has next to no coloring, although it’s not quite as smooth as the top. I suppose you could sand it with a fine grade of sandpaper and round over the edges if you didn’t want the marble look. I suppose I might do that should the top get damaged or discolored too badly.Nice product, works well and was very attractively priced.

Works Well
This drying stone soaks in drops of water as you watch. It is far better than the drying mat it replaced. The stone is attractive and keeps the counter dry. I have not tested its strength but sense it is fragile (it is thin and lightweight). This stone is meant for drying not holding up weights. It comes with a small round bit of sandpaper should you need it in cleaning the stone which can be stained by dark liquids including coffee. Usual cleaning is straight forward with water but if it is stained you will have to resort to the supplied sandpaper. The part I like most about this stone is how nice it looks in the kitchen.

Easy to stain, but works
This works well as a drying surface. Diatomaceous Earth planks like this are really neat in that they can wick water away and then slowly evaporate it to dry. DE has antimicrobial properties so it isn't likely to develop funky smells like a dish towel would, if used the same way.The faux marble printing doesn't look very real but it is nice. What I have found is that - no matter how hard I try - it will eventually pick up stains, and those stains are difficult or impossible to get rid of. That doesn't really bother me that much, but the white marble look is going to show stains better than a darker color might.
