The perfect calculator

I have been looking for a calculator with this specific set of features for literally years. I've already bought another one because I'm so sick of finding the perfect thing and then I can't get a replacement 5 years later when the manufacturer has gone out of business. Hoping this review helps prevent the last part too.I've been using my TI-83 from school at my job because I simply couldn't part with the parentheses and ability to see multiple lines. However, I've also been wanting a calculator that can sit on my desk to run quick calculations without the 5 billion other functions a graphing calc has, and to see the display without picking it up. Unfortunately, every "large format" desk calculator is just the basic accounting one that I find too limiting in features. Printing calculators solve some of my problems since you can refer to past calculations and check your work, but I just hate using them.Above standard features are:1) Multiple lines - ability to see what I typed in is CRITICAL so I can check my work, especially once you start doing more complicated calculations involving parentheses. Basically like tape printing calculator, but without the paper!2) Parentheses - I don't know if it's my line of work, or just the way my brain works, but I find myself constantly dividing a sum of numbers by another sum of numbers, requiring parentheses if I don't want to write down the numerator and denominator.3) Arrow left/right w/ insert & delete - many calculators have a backspace, but sure can be nice to not have to retype a whole equation if you left out a 0 in the first of several numbers. This feature is critically important with the next feature though.4) Arrow up/down - this scrolls through past calculations. While this would be useful just to check work, you can actually also go back and edit/add/delete numbers and resolve. This is such big quality of life feature, I'm surprised it's not more common. The only improvements that I feel could be made:1) More lines - I would actually prefer 4 or 5 lines, all a larger version of the 1st row. Again very similar to the TI calculators.2) Reuse prev calculation as a variable - I know the memory function (MRC) serves the same purpose, but I find using it unintuitive. I much prefer the TI's ANS<2nd+(-)> feature so you can insert the previous result anywhere in your new equation. You can use the arrow up function of this one to find a previous calculation, but if you want to reuse it's result, it has to be at the front of the next equation you're using the result in. Not helpful if I'm trying to divide by a previous result. I guess since this calculator is already going out on limb they wanted to keep it as familiar as possible to the standard accounting desk calculator and it's memory button, but still hate it.3) Water-resistant - Most probably don't need it, but we use large desk calculators in the lab since it's easy to hit the larger buttons with gloves on and doesn't matter if we spill (plus can be rinsed off in the sink), and easy to read while standing. The poor-man's solution is to put in a plastic ziplock, but it doesn't look professional and eventually gets dirty or tears. The Victor 99901 is our favorite calculator in the lab for those who need something similar: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002XQ23IG/?th=1. This calculator's features would be great in a lab or other dirty setting.4) Display could be angled a bit more. The LCD can be just a bit hard to see when the calculator is further from you and you're sitting.

Why is this not a normal thing?

It appears to be very hard to find a calculator that works as both a desktop calculator and functions in the way a desktop calculator should meaning that there should be more than one calculation going on at a time. So it seems pretty intuitive that you not only want to see what you're multiplying together but to be able to have the memory to be able to go back through your previous data. Yes, you can sort of do that on traditional calculators, but let's face it they're stupid. Here is where this greatly excels past a standard ticker tape calculator: big display with the second line workspace above, forward, backward, up and down keys, large enough buttons and footprint so that it operates like a desktop calculator should being visible and easy soft key presses but not so large that you require a second desk to hold it. It's solar and battery powered so in theory this should have incredibly long work legs. Here are a few gripes: the keys sometimes don't always catch the key press so it can miss strokes. The good news is because it keeps a record of what you typed you can see where the error is and correct it. It doesn't happen often but it's noticeable. The other is either a kickstand or a bent display so that if it is laying flat you could have an easier time reading it. I currently have mine propped up at an angle on a cell phone holder and that makes it work very well for my purposes reducing the footprint on my desk.Overall fantastic purchase at a reasonable price I would highly recommend this for everybody's daily driver. I hope this is one of those simple yet effective uses of tech that I can hand down and it's just as effective as the day I bought it

Wonderful Calculator

The overall size, key size, tilted readout and color of this simple calculator are great. It works well and is an amazing deal at less than $10 with free shpg. Another reviewer mentioned that his doesn't sit flat, and mine too has a slight wobble. It's a bit annoying when I'm flying through calculations to have to steady it with one hand, but if I used this often enough to care, I could easily fix it by tacking on one of those little self-sticking circles on the one foot that's low. That aside, this is exactly what I wanted and I'm glad I bought it.

Game changer WOW

I never write reviews but WOW - life changing. I struggle with basic arithmetic even though I’m in high level math - this is a game changer. Large numbers AND I can check my work. Can’t find another four function calculator with two lines.

Works well

It works well use it often for work. The placement of the 00 and the 0 seems off to me. With they would have switched locations. Love how the screen sits up and the color is exactly what is described.

Perfecto!

The media could not be loaded.  Es increíblemente util. Las teclas son suavecitas y el tamaño es ideal para la oficina. Lo que mas me ayudo de la calculadora es que arriba me muestra los números que eh utilizado y también tiene historial. Me encanto 10/10.

Omg best thing I bought so far in 2024

I know it's just a calculator but I wanted something cute but not tiny. This is beyond perfect! Super cute all white but big enough you can see the button your pressing. Laid out like a 10 key that I'm used to without it being a 10 key I'm totally in love with this

Buttons travel is too deep!

The general function of the calculator is good. The trouble is that the button's need to be pressed so deep that you often miss a number and have to go back to add it or you fail to notice that it was missed.

Works well.

Solar panel is a bit of a gimmick inside. Doesn't work with office flourescent lighting, or my tabletop LEDs, unless held right up to the light.Battery mode works fine, though.Actual calculator is fine. Annoying that it always defaults to overwrite mode instead of insert when making corrections, however.

Cute

I love this color🤗 Another addition to my collection in pink color

Did not like it.

To clear the history and memory, you have to remove the battery and keep the calculator upside down so the solar cell won't keep it awake. Never had to do that before with any calculator.Needs to have a seperate button to clear the memory and history.Returned for refund
