Guitar Slim's guitar style was highly and somewhat original and was an inspiration to scores of guitarists from Buddy Guy to Jimi Hendrix and Frank Zappa. Here for the first time, Jasmine have gathered together all of his singles in one package and of course this includes his phenomenal hit "The Things That I Used To Do" which topped the Billboard R%B charts for a remarkable 14 weeks selling over a million copies. The song has now become a staple of the genre and has been covered by Stevie Ray Vaughan, James Brown, Chuck Berry, Freddy King to mention a few. Any fan of electric blues must have this CD in their collection. Fully detailed liner notes.

Great Music, Crappy Packaging
The CD was shipped in a plastic bag. Of course the case was smashed. Luckily the CD was intact. Not a happy camper.

mah radio review.
I m on my second listen to this cd in my car since getting it-at first go around I was disappointed that most of the tunes were not of the jumpin variety I tend to favor-on second listen I feel the sounds starting to attach to me-some of the rhythm is more subtle than initially thought and I realize that I wasn't as familiar with guitar slim as first thought when purchased-some of the jumpin tunes are excellent so time will tell whether this is a blues keeper or a toss away. some of his voc.al styles remind me of magic sam maybe.
