Best beginner set I've seen.
I gave this a quick once over before hiding it in the attic for Christmas. Wanted to make sure everything was sharpened and good to go for the big day.The case is decent enough for the average kid. It's really large to hold all the goodies, but it's manageable. There weren't any loose strings or anything. Zipper is pretty thick, so I don't see it coming apart any time soon. The easel is a pretty standard travel easel. It's actually the same one my wife takes with her when she paints. Kinda neat.Supplies are obviously not going to be the highest quality at this price, but they are definitely a step up from the kid's kits you get at the big-box stores. The pastels are going to be nice and the colored pencils are about the same as Rose Art. The paints are great for a beginner, too. I'm actually impressed.Everything is better than I was expecting for this price, really.I did a lot of searching before deciding on this set. It's the biggest bang for your buck, and I think my son is going to love it.

Absolutely love this art set!!!
I absolutely love this art set. It is great for beginners and intermediate. I love that it's compact. Would be a great gift also for kids around the ages of 7 and up maybe who are into art. And of course would be a great gift for anyone who's into art.The paints are great, they don't dry up fast. I like the easel very much that I can adjust it to sit on a table to stand fully from floor to standing position and anywhere in between. The case is very sturdy. Has a good strap and handle. Comes with were really good brushes. The bristles don't come out a lot and they seem very sturdy. And the watercolor pencils that's the first time I've worked with them I really like them. They don't break off like a lot of color pencils do. All in all this set does not look like or feel like a cheap set even though it is very low cost.

Good enough quality for a beginner
This was a gift for my grandson, and though it isn't the finest quality, the price is right for what you get. It's a good assortment, making it just right for a beginner to try a variety of media. It's got a little bit of everything, and the tools to use them. Now my grandson will get a chance to see if he wants to paint like Daddy, or sketch with charcoal like Grandpa, or draw comics like Auntie. As for quality, I tried out the colored pencils and the watercolor pencils. Though they're not as good as my Derwent Inktense or Prismacolor pencils -- not that I expected that -- I found they were really decent quality. Your young artist won't be frustrated by poor coverage or crumbly leads, which are the hallmarks of cheap pencils in my experience. I only tried these items because a bit of use wouldn't be noticeable; if the other items in the kit are considerably better or worse, I will update this review.Note: The description isn't totally accurate, but the picture is. It comes with just 12 soft (aka chalk) pastels but no oil ones. (I'm fine with that, because a 7-year old plus oil pastels does not seem like the best idea ever. But you might want them so be warned.) Additions include 3 unsharpened pencils marked "soft/medium/hard" which I think are actually charcoal, and a 2-hole metal sharpener rather than an easily broken plastic one.

Nice set! Great gift.
Got for Christmas gift for 9 year old daughter. She LOVED it. Came as pictured and the carrying case wasn't cheap looking and it held all of the contents neatly. Great gift, especially for the price!

Not so happy
Not sure if it was the way it was packaged or the way the drivers handled it. The charcoal colors where everywhere I should have did an unboxing video totally wasn't expecting that it was ment for a gift yet looked used because of the broken items and colors everywhere unable to give it as a gift

Arrived in Perfect Condition, Good Variety for Beginners
Got this for my mother, she has gotten a lot of free time since she retired and is looking for a hobby. I just wanted a starter set and enough so she can mimic a bob ross tutorial or two. Will probably need to buy some medium - large canvass for her. The paint mixer is also not good for mixing colors, besides that, there is a lot of variety and mediums for her to experiment with. Good for the price, well worth the money for what I got.

Great Set But....
I’m really excited to use this as it’s a very nice set - but it disappoints me how it was packaged. I have to clean it as the oil pastels were not taped shut and came open. Chunks broke off and it’s all over as you can see in the pictures. I just feel like for the price you get great stuff but take the time to properly package. I’m still debating if I want to exchange it or keep it cause if I can’t get it clean I’m not sure I want to store my other (very expensive) art supplies. Tape could have prevented the mess.
