Fantastic live performances from Joe Cocker
Some fantastic live performances from Joe. Real classic songs with an amazingly moving version of "With a little help from my friends". Worth buying just for that. The behind the scenes snippets are interesting. Joe seems completely bored with the fame side of it all and just wants to have a nice chat with his mates.

Joe the Plumber
Actually, so the story goes, Joe was a gas fitter from Sheffield. No matter. I remember seeing this motley crew on tour, and as hormone-filled young man, tended to focus on the backing singers, Claudia Linnear and Rita Coolidge. However, the music is great too, and a nostalgic reminder of the raw power that Joe used to deliver. Alas, the picture quality suffers at times, but there was no HDTV in those days, after all. Highlights for me were "Delta Lady" and "She came in through the bathroom window", with the horn section swinging and Leon Russell hammering the ivories for all he's worth. Good times.

Brill!
Saw this at the cinema in the 70’s and loved it and still do. Joe Cocker was a great performer and this film is great.

Disappointing
Poor picture quality. Content is legendary but the technical quality makes it difficult to enjoy. Not recommended.

Nice one Joe.
If you saw the film 'back-the-day', then you know you should get it as Joe was one of the best Blues singers that the UK ever produced. This was one of the real 60's tours.

should be re-issued
Such a good film if you love Mad Dogs... gives you a feel of life on the road for such a large band of musicians and their families. Great piece of the young Bobby Keys too.

A great moment in early(ish) rock n roll history
There was an era in rock, say late sixties to early seventies, when white rock musicians embraced the big band sound meaning guitars, drums, horns, keyboards and backing singers. Delany and Bonnie were among the first to use this style followed by the Stones, The Band and many others that I'm forgetting. I beleieve they got it from artists like James Brown and B.B. King. Anyway it was a golden era and this recording is among the greatest of that era (IMHO).
