Jedi for a day
I got this totally on a whim -- mostly figuring I'd give it away as a gift. I grew up a big Star Wars fan, but I'm 40 now and not at all a fan of the new Disney SW. Still, I'll admit to a lifelong desire to have a real lightsaber. In the 90s when I was a kid, I played with the telescoping ones they sold for $20 or so, but was always annoyed at how fragile and cheap they were. Well, fast-forward 30ish years and we may not have free health care or flying cars, but the tech for lightsabers is absolutely insane. When this lightsaber arrived, I figured I'd open it up and make sure it worked, then pack it back away to give as a gift. 3 hours later I was still swinging it around my living room fighting imaginary Sith. It's shockingly well made. Very heavy, solid metal handle, just generic enough to work for anyone in the Star Wars universe, but still stylish. The plastic "blade" part seems very resistant to "sword fights" -- I smacked the ceiling and table a few times pretty hard without any effect (aside from the intentional lighting and sound effects). You can select pretty much any color you want. It also has sounds and sound effects than can be triggered manually by hitting the button, or from impact. Even a quick flick of the wrist enables the wielder to "block laser bolts" so to speak with light and sound effects. I'll probably still end up giving it away as a gift since I can't justify a toy like this at my age. Still, I enjoyed playing with it very much and can't even begin to imagine the fun I would have had with this when I was younger.

Great handle, Cumbersome features
This lightsaber has good weight and handling. It's comfortable and doesn't dig too much into your hand when you're swinging it around. The features on the lightsaber are clunky and the instructions leave a lot to be desired. There are 18 sound effects and they seem to be associated with the colors, but you can still change the colors separately. Long presses, triple short presses, 10 second presses. The sound effects and voice lines delivered would make me blush wondering how they get pass all the copyright infringements. My favorite sound set is definitely the magical Sailor Girl set, which my daughters all love.Installation is hard to understand. Instead of having a screw mount on the blade hilt, you need to install two set screws that aren't balanced. They give you three set screws but I think it only has room for two.The battery is also kind of annoying to remove and charge. The blade is just a piece of plastic, so the blade color doesn't distribute evenly. The blade hilt will be the brightest and it begins to fade as you get to the tip of the blade. I don't know what the going rate of lightsabers is, but I feel like for the price, you'd get a better improvement in quality. My guess is the price you pay is going to help them fight any lawsuits they might have with some major media corporation. Still, the quality is pretty decent, and while I can't attest to actual duels. The plastic seems flimsy and the impact sensor on the hilt is not very sensitive so striking something requires quite a bit of force to activate any sound effects.Despite all this, it's still a fun sword to swing around.

The hubby loves it!
Nice dueling light saber for any Star Wars fan. Easy to use, you can change the color of the light saber depending on which character you would like to portray. Even the sounds are good. He's having fun with it and it's definitely worth getting.

GREAT SABER... REALLY WANTED TO GIVE THIS AT LEAST A FOUR STAR, BUT IT STOPPED WORKING
My husband got this to play and geek out with our kids, and at first everyone loved the saber; it seemed well made and was constructed beautifully, made with real metal, heavy, sturdy, durable, the sounds, lights and color change features were excellent! Everything was going well, until the audio cut out and started glitching, so we thought to restart it, still glitching, then we thought maybe the batter was low, so we charged it, still the same issue and the sound wouldn't return, which really upset our youngest. It was a great and amazing saber up until that point. The only other issue we had was that you have to screw in the plastic blade portion with an allen wrench every time you use it, and you have to unscrew the base to charge it, but those were minor preferences by comparison.Overall, it was a great saber until it wasn't. Not sure if we just got a dud or if others have experienced this too.

Software holds back a very sturdy saber
So this is a very nice looking saber study and good heft. Unfortunately it's the type that you have to unscrew it to charge which I'm not a fan of, additionally the software is outdated. It's missing some options that are pretty universally standard for the price. It is a good starter saber but that is about all.
