Very well made!
This hoof knife is well made and beefy. The blade is heavy stainless steel and sharp. This style of hoof knife where both ends of the blade are fastened into the handle keeps the blade from flexing too much, giving you more precise control. The wooden handle is beautifully smooth and comfortable in the hand. It’s wide at the end to distribute the pressure on the heel of your hand for good grip. Very well made.

Nice hoof knife
My daughter just started farrier school and this knife is working out perfectly for her. I don't know much about these knives or working with livestock, but my daughter has been very happy with it.

As advertised! A+
Excellent tool for hoof trimming whether you're a righty or a lefty. The blade is good and sharp for whittling the frog and bars down. The only con with this style blade is it can make it a little harder to see the hoof as you scrape, but it's just a matter of getting used to. Overall A+!

My farrier said, no!
Well, I was hopeful that this would be a good hoof knife but when I asked my farrier to try it out for me today during my mare's trim, he was not enthusiastic. He said the oval shape of this knife is a specific design for trimming only the frog and this design was too wide to get down into the cleft of the hoof to properly trim the frog.He also said it was not very sharp and because of its construction (the loop of metal), it could not be quickly sharpened on his wheel attached to his truck but would rather need to be hand sharpened with a small tool that could be inserted between the two sides. So, in his opinion, not very practical either. All in all, he said there are better products out there and if he was reviewing it (he kinda is :o), he would give it a 1 at best.Sorry I can't say better things about it!

Poor Edge for a new tool
Not impressed with the edge, the photos are of nicks and dents in the blade straight out of the box, before cutting anything. The blade does cut and feels good but either there is no quality control or it's just a poor quality tool.

Very well made hoof knife.
We have horses. And although we do hire a professional farrier, there are many occasions where my wife has to attend to our horses’ hoofs. She lost the hoof knife she previously had, so we got this one. This is a very nice upgrade. This has a wooden handle, unlike some of the plastic ones available. The handle has just the right shape to fit in your hand. The blade is sharp and strong, with just the right angle and separation. When you are dealing with horses you can’t take chances by using products that might fail and put you in harms way. This hoof knife is strong, well thought out, and reliable enough to not give you concerns while working on a horse's hoof.

Not actually "double edged", but still a good knife
This knife has a very sturdy handle with a solid blade which came very sharp. It feels good in your hand and does a good job removing sole. You should know that it is not actually double edged, but a loop life. A double edged knife cuts forward and backward, this only cuts in one direction but the blade makes a loop. That is exactly the knife I was looking for so I'm happy with it. I do not look forward to sharpening it though!

Easy to use and hold
This is a nice hoof knife. I got it, thinking it was one of the hook style, but discovered it was oval, so I took it to a horse to clean up its feet a bit and see how well it worked. It works well, cleaning up the dirt and cutting and trimming the sole and frog easily. It's a nice and balanced weight in the hand. Please, however, don't buy and use one without being properly taught, as enthusiastic ignorance can lame your horse. A good value.
