Versatile and Beneficial Natural Superstar
I recently tried the BSY Organic Amla Powder and have been quite pleased with its versatility and benefits. The powder is finely ground, making it easy to incorporate into a variety of daily routines such as smoothies, teas, and DIY hair and skincare treatments. As someone who enjoys experimenting with natural health remedies, I found the tart, slightly sour taste of the Amla powder to be a delightful addition to my morning smoothie. The high Vitamin C content and antioxidant properties are clear advantages, contributing to noticeable improvements in my skin's radiance and overall health. One of the standout features of this Amla powder is its effectiveness in traditional Indian hair care routines. After mixing it with other natural ingredients like hibiscus powder, I've noticed my hair feels softer and more voluminous, and my natural curls are more defined. The double-layered packaging, although initially seeming excessive, proved to be quite practical for keeping the fine powder dry and easy to store. However, the non-recyclable nature of the packaging is a slight drawback for those of us trying to reduce our environmental footprint.Overall, the BSY Organic Amla Powder offers a range of health and beauty benefits that make it a worthwhile addition to any wellness regimen. While it is not the cheapest option available, its quality and effectiveness justify the price. It's important to note that the powder can cause digestive discomfort if taken on an empty stomach, so I recommend mixing it with food or drink. Despite this minor issue, the product's organic and GMP-certified credentials add to its appeal, making it a reliable choice for those seeking a natural, nutrient-rich supplement.

Zingy Citrus Taste
I ordered this packet of Amla powder so I could try a recipe I'd seen for a drink called Jal Jeera, in an Ayurveda related book. Apparently it's a popular summer time drink in India, and served as an appetiser. It has a tart taste that activates your stomach in the same way as the French drinking Pastis before a meal. In this drink, the tartness was being supplied by the alma, which has a zingy slightly sour citrus taste. I really like it, probably helped by my lack of a sweet tooth. If you haven't eaten it before I recommend it as worthy of trying. The powder is easy to sprinkle on anything you may wish to flavour, and experimenting is always fun.Amla is also known as Indian Gooseberry, but it's not the same species as the gooseberry fruit native to the UK. The berries have a high concentration of vitamin C and are known to be diuretic and potentially anticoagulant, so if you're pregnant or on any prescription medications you need to consult your pharmacist before eating this.

Good for hair
I have been using a mixture of Amla, baheda and soap nut powder to wash my hair for a few months now and I have been really pleased with the results. My hair feels soft and more voluminous and it brings out the curls.Using this Amla powder along with hibiscus powder from the same brand the mix felt softer and smoother and went on better than before. I mixed it with boiling water and left it for a day before using it.I thought at first that the packaging was overkill but actually having one bag inside another works really well when you were dealing with very fine powders like this and the outer bag seals well.My only reservation is that I don’t know how to check the organic credentials.

Not too sour - drink warm
This tasted quite pleasant - not too sour or sweet when I drank half a teaspoonful as recommended in warm water. A good alternative to western cold remedies as it has high levels of Vitamin C.It is well packaged, so easy to reseal, and could be good as a souring ingredient in cooking.Read the precautions online if you are on blood thinning medication.

Good quality GMP product
The BSY Organic Amla Powder (Amalaki) powder arrives in a printed non-recyclable ziploc bag. Printed on the bag are the directions for use, and logo that confirm that it is organic and GMP manufactured. GMP is important for product quality. The powder is double packed in a second non-recyclable plastic bag and the ziploc works well - so this powder should remain dry.Amla powder is made from the indian gooseberry. It has a dry sour taste as a powder which is OK but better in a smoothie or on porridge etc.Amla is used in traditional Indian medicine and it has been studied in some clinical trials mainly for acid reflux and to benefit ageing skin, hair loss and vision. These studies while promising need larger studies to confirm the findings - but what we know is that the preparation has high levels of vitamin C and has powerful antioxidant properties which may additionally be important for heart health.Obviously I would prefer to have the fresh gooseberries but this is not possible in the UK. The powder is a good substitute and although it is not the cheapest on Amazon but at a price of £10.00 for 227g it is reasonable as I would use very little in a serving (5g) and it is claimed to be GMP manufactured.A useful supplement that may work for some.
