One Problem with Formatting for Kindle Use
Often this book is used as a text for a class or workshop. Unfortunately, using it in class is difficult because the "Go To" function does not include page "number" ---- only "location". When some people are using the hard copy version, page numbers are often called out for reference during the workshop or class. It is almost impossible for the people who are using the Kindle version to find the reference. To be a good text, it needs to be able to "go to" specific page numbers.I found that this book made the assumption that all older or disabled persons were depressed, couldn't sleep, had trouble communicating, and knew nothing about good nutrition and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I find that these assumptions are not necessarily true, and that the book takes a simplistic approach to self-management techniques.

I love this book, I sleep with it under my pillow, 24/7 inspiration to upgrade the quality and functioning of my life AAAA+++++
I love this workbook. I have a chronic pain condition called full body CRPS - RSD ...and I do not want to do anything !! After reading this book I created an action plan ..and I am cleaning up my entire house, top to bottom, inventory on and on. My house has like dust an inch thick on some things. I hate cleaning, and this book helped me step up and face my demons !! Pain and all !! Helping me to completely revamp my life, and release procrastination, depression and apathy with life. I LOVE !! this book. I sleep with it under my pillow and I am constantly reading it to be inspired to upgrade my life. I am also enrolling others to buy this book...and I am having everyone do these action plans with me, very fun.

A large book!
Definitely can’t take this to bed and read!!The content well if your a sufferer then there really isn’t anything new. But if you’ve just unfortunately started on the pain road then it’s a good read.Would be better if the size of it was smaller.

Living a Healthy Life!
I chose a 5-star rating for this book because of its purpose, its completeness, and its accessibility. As a person with Multiple Sclerosis, I participated in a 6 week program based on this book. Through the group process and this book I learned some key self-management skills that boost my potential to live as healthy and active a life as I can manage. The book also talks of strategies for future planning, using your mind to help control symptoms, how to manage fatigue and pain, managing your medications, and becoming an active advocate and self-manager of one's own health. Knowing how strained many health services and professionals are this book is very timely! Kate Lorig and her team at Stanford have produced this book and its program based on extensive, sound research.

Great Self-Management Book
My only disappointment with this book was that it was the American version and I thought I was getting an updated copy of the Canadian version I received in a government health seminar. The information on conditions, exercise, diet, etc. were wonderful but the references and referrals for further information were all American.
