Zainab Is Different

It's nice to see a book that helps kids understand that being different isn't a bad thing. Sometimes kids need to see characters that they can easily relate to, so it also helps that being different in this book doesn't mean having supernatural powers or the ability to perform magic. It's just normal kids learning a valuable lesson, with bright and well done illustrations. Highly recommend for any kid you know that feels different,whether that be due to a religious affiliation, ethnicity, or non-traditional family.

i grew up being different so i know how it can sting to think you're an 'outsider'this book is designed to tell kids that it's okay to be different, and that we should celebrate our differences.i grew up among muslims, jews and christians but i never really understood anything about them. this book helps to bridge those gaps, in a friendly, upbeat, non-threatening and non-preachy way.i've already read it to my nieces and nephews and it's fun to hear them chiming in with "hey that looks like me!"and my friends report the same thing when reading to their kids - "hey we celebrate christmas!" "hey we go to synogague"so awesome when a kid can relate so intimately to a book.

We received this book from a friend. Within the first hour my 4 year old daughter had us read it to her 4 times. Then again before she went to bed. Then she wanted it when she got up to go to the potty.It's a beautiful book with a great story that is inclusive of everybody. Just as life should be.

This book lovingly conveys the message that being different is ok. The book is NOT preachy; it manages to get its point across through well-written text and vivid illustrations. It is a wonderful addition to anyone's library. And Zainab (the main character) is so cute!
