Dirty Old Coins Complete Kit with 11 Genuine Ancient Roman Coins

Being a total newbie to ancient coin collecting, cleaning, and identifying, I ordered this kit on a spur of the moment decision and am extremely happy I did so. It came as advertised and the coins were in much better condition than I had originally anticipated. This makes for a great gift for the historian in your family, or for yourself if you're also new to the world of ancient coin collecting. It's the first step in what I expect will be a lifelong hobby.

The item received was not as described on Amazon. Instead of "Dirty Old Coins with 11 Genuine Ancient Roman Coins", I received "Roman Emperor In A Box" . The box contains 1 cleaned coin and 5 "dirty" coins according to the information printed on the package. I was initially annoyed thinking I was shorted 5 coins, but I opened the package and found two envelopes with 5 coins each plus the cleaned one for a total of 11. As others have said, the coins a small, but that is to be expected at this price point.I bought this as a gift so the size or number of coins won't really matter to the recipient. The seller or Amazon should update the description of the product to avoid confusion and annoyed customers who may not open the package because it will be a gift. I had purchased this same set from UC Berkeley's Lawrence Science Museum only about six years ago and still have those coins in olive oil. I compared this set with that one and these are almost half the size and almost everyone of them are half the size! While it's still fun to clean them and discover what I have I wouldn't buy these from Amazon again since they are so mall and frankly most of them won't yield anything identifiable in the end which is the whole point of the process. Very disappointed.

Great encyclopedia at the ready because everyone seems to have some type of computer or automation device with a CD or DVD type device. The information is so big I am still going through it to be on the ready when that certain coin is offered for sale. The coins are great pieces to help you follow their instructions on the proper cleaning and preservation of history. I am thinking about buying another just to have a spare.

My daughter and I love this product! We had so much fun and the result was incredible! We would definitely buy this again!
