I got these for my and my son to paint. I had gotten some larger rocks, and thought smaller ones to either use along with the larger ones, or just use on their own, would be fun and allow for more creative options.These rocks are nice and smooth. I like that they are different shapes/sizes (although all smaller). They are NOT uniform, so keep in mind if purchasing.It was a decent value. I wasn't sure how much 1 lb of rocks would be, but there are 31 small rocks inside. Some have small chips or deformities in them, while others seem perfect. Real rocks are not perfect anyway so I don't mind the imperfects, but I imagine they might break easier because of them.I painted some just to try them and my paint markers out, but haven't done anything cool with them yet. Looking forward to coming up with a fun idea for my son and I to do/paint with these!

Three pounds of these small rocks comes to about 100 in total, plus some pieces in the bag which may or may not have been broken in transit. The smallest rocks are under an inch and the largest is closer to two inches. They are smooth and, for the most part, flat. I plan on using them for kindness rocks, so the flatter the better. Pricewise, I've generally purchased larger rocks so it's difficult to compare, but they seem to be fairly reasonable.

Pretty smooth when I used my acrylic markers on them (sealed them afterwards). I liked the size and they were perfect for my tic-tac-toe project. Also were nice to use as markers on grave headstones...pretty with designs on them. Plus, so many stones. I'd definitely buy more when I run out.

These rocks are way too small to paint properly. It’s possible, but for the price not worth it.

Finally I found the right sized rocks I've been looking for. These rocks are small, measuring between 1-2 inches. Most are less than 1.5". The stones are clean and smooth and take acrylic paint well.The first picture is all the rocks together to give an idea how many were in the bag. I counted 98. The second picture is of a small amount of the rocks just to give a closer look of the condition and size. I'm thrilled them.

These were very nice to paint. I'm not used to using small rocks but I wanted to paint critters so I could have critters in my garden that can handle the bug killerI always wash rocks before painting to remove any debrisThese dried very quickly and were nice and smooth alreadyThe paint went on nicely and adhered perfectlyI am very happy with how it all came out and would definitely recommend

Paint markers may help on some of the smaller rocks, but all in all these are a nice size to paint and leave around as little pockets of sunshine.
