Not flat Mine was rolled up, however it does lay flat and the ball will roll up without a problem. My pair work well.

Q: Can the creases be steamed out?

I think so, not sure, but almost sure this can be done

Q: Can this be used outside on the grass?

I wouldn’t recommend it. The mat is very thin and would not lay flat enough on uneven grass to use properly.
