Great chess set
Bought as a gift for someone wanting to learn chess. Magnets work perfectly, lovely finish to the board and very pretty pieces. Looks more expensive than the £18ish paid. Also came with an antique key charm… Not sure why, but it’s very nice!

Excellent all round
Great little board, has stood the test, I use it a fair bit as do my kids and it's held up really well.

Fit for purpose, but average quality
The magnetism isn't overly strong but pieces will survive a solid bump. Unfortunately the pieces are randomly north- or south- magnetic meaning they stick to each other when near each other (I assumed they would all be north and the board be south? Maybe that's my ignorance though)Overall the quality just feels a bit cheap for the price. The felt inner storage seems like it's been made for a different chess set (although they all fit albeit too snugly) and the packaging had lots of spelling and grammatical errors.It's still a perfectly useable chess set, but just not worth £30. I expected this from the reviews and unless you are willing to spend £50+ (and then can buy from a dedicated chess shop) then this is probably your best bet

Good value, solid set
Very pleased with this. It’s not a ‘luxury’ set but for the price it’s excellent. Pieces are sturdy with strong magnets and the board is solid. A joy to use.

Shocking quality
Bought this as an upgrade to the plastic and cardboard set in the cupboard and I couldn't me more disappointed.The board is misprinted and wonky and the two halves are misaligned.The magnets are a variety of North & south so mess with each other on the board.The finish on the board is shoddy and the pieces look way worse than advertised.I wasn't expecting a masterpiece for £21 but this set is worth half that. Into the cupboard it goes with the other junk board.

Excellent chess set
Excellent chess set, bought for my 10 year old grandson for Christmas, he loves it.Very well made.

Good magnets, a bit large for travelling unless in a van.
Pieces are the right size for the board, and the magnets ensure they don’t fall over when jogged. They pack away into their own slots inside the box, so in that sense this set good for travelling, it isn’t fancy, but perfectly pleasant to play with.
