One-of-a-kind El Salvador flag 1940s wood brooch - pin ... handmade by ME2Designs * This 'wearable history' brooch is an upcycled piece from a J.K. Straus 1940s wood 'Flags of the United Nations' puzzle * The J.K. Straus Company was founded by Joseph K. Straus in 1933 in Brooklyn, NY. The family-run company made wood jigsaw puzzles. The puzzle that this piece came from was commissioned by the United Nations & was made in the 1940s, as the company used tan boxes & added a picture of the puzzle on the box top in the 1940s. The Straus Company closed in the 1970s, when the last family member retired. * NOTE: the puzzle that this piece was upcycled from was made in the 1940s, and all of the red flag colors have faded in the last 70+ years to a pink. The other colors are pretty much true to name, and the white is now a slightly off-white color. These are pieces of history, showing minor wear due to age, but all the flags are in whole shape To view all my other handmade items that are available, just click on the ME2 Designs link at the right side of the listing.
