I use this every month or so to stop the washing machine getting smelly - although my machine is used several times a week, it gets a horrible mouldy smell over time (our water is very hard and high in nitrates etc. which may be a factor). This cleaner is better than some other washing machine cleaners I've tried, more effective than washing soda, and if used regularly, does stop it smelling. It doesn't automatically get rid of the black mould that tends to form in the dispenser drawer, in the pipes, and round the door seal, and you need to scrub those areas manually if that's a problem where you live. It leaves a mild fresh scent which fades quickly.It is very annoying that I need to run a hot wash once a month to clean the washing machine (surely they should be designed to stay clean! They brag about how eco friendly they are and promote low temperature washes, but you have to run a hot wash regularly just to clean them!), but that's not the fault of the product.

So having read the reviews and seen people's washing machines bubble over, I decided to play it safe... But how?It's a liquid, if I just whack the lot in the detergent drawer, what if "the same" happened and I need to call a plumber AND replace my flooring? Nah, not having that.Go halves? Well, that would mean 125ml, and as I do not feel comfortable chucking the lot in the detergent drawer, I need to use a dispenser ball.... Which doesn't hold quite that much....That was the moment when I decided to go thirds. 80ml in the dispenser ball, in it went. 60 degrees celsius wash cycle, let's go!Understandably there wasn't an avalanche of bubbles, but still it looked impressive, and after the wash, the washing machine does seem that bit cleaner... Or may be it's all in my head?I am honestly wondering if people that had the bubble flood were in a soft water area? Would be great if future reviewers could chime in on that. I am in a hard water area and IMO the full dose would have brought about the drum full of bubbles, and my guess is that with soft water, it might bubble over, BUT THAT'S JUST ME GUESSING.I use water softener with every wash religiously anyway, and clear out the "fluff catcher" regularly, and I keep the washing machine door open after every use to let it air and dry out, so it doesn't smell anyway, but it is a bit old so hopefully this cleanse helps with its lifespan.This is staying on my subscription. For a couple of quids or so this is pretty good. A little goes a long way.
