INFINITE STARS!!! It's not just the cage, it's also the company! (Extensive, HONEST review!)
The media could not be loaded. I took a chance ordering this cage through Amazon. It's a high-price item, and due to the third party nature of Amazon itself, it can often be difficult to get in touch with sellers post-sale if there are any issues—and I did have issues... But it was actually worth it simply to experience SUCH wonderful customer service and kindness from strangers. So here's my story. (And since you're probably wondering first and foremost, the cage is AMAZING, but I'll get to that by the end.)Classy Act No. 1) Initially, when I ordered my cage, I failed to realize the estimated shipping date was too far in the future for my time frame. I panicked and sent both Amazon customer service and Bonka Bird Toys/King's Cages a message asking if I could pay for faster shipping. Not only did the company respond almost immediately, but they expedited the shipping without requesting any additional payment. They then reached back out to me out of what I can only imagine to be genuine courtesy to provide me with shipping confirmation and a tracking number. Throughout this process, they communicated beautifully with me, always waiting for my confirmation before acting, and always double checking they fully understood my concerns before proceeding.Classy Act No. 2) When I received the cage, there was a small section of the cage that had chipped paint. It was obvious it was due to an accidental abrasion and not an issue of the quality of manufacturing. Now honestly, at least in my opinion, this is expected to be a likely obstacle when ordering anything—especially when the item is heavy, and especially when it gets transferred between multiple warehouses and shipping companies. This is exactly the reason I was nervous ordering such a costly item from Amazon. Common sense tells me damage is likely, and experience reveals that customer service through Amazon is often disappointing to say the least. When I messaged them about this issue, they responded quickly. They offered multiple different resolution options. They relayed information to me on which paints I could safely use (around my bird) to touch up the chipped areas whilst also offering to refund me a portion of the cost in addition to sending some bird toys. How kind!Classy Act No. 3) I shared with them that my bird is a chronic bar chewer and would surely destroy any of my attempts to remedy the chips with touch up paint. They kindly offered to send me a replacement panel for the section that was damaged. And the process was exactly the same this time as the last. They communicated with me EVERY step of the way (it was genuinely above and beyond any expectations or hopes), they expedited shipping, they provided the cost for shipping AND the box and return label for the returned, damaged portion so that the panel can be refurbished and put to the good use it was created for.Classy Act No. 4) Additionally, they also offered to STILL send complimentary bird toys with the panel, but I kindly explained it wasn't necessary as I wouldn't want the toys to go to waste (I have a ridiculously picky bird), and I honestly just didn't want any more from this company because they had already in my view done so much beyond what I could have expected. And I need a fifth classy act to complete my 5 star review, so I'll make it about this WONDERFUL bird cage! Okay, so it is obvious that this cage is made BY bird owners. If not, then they've obviously done extensive research on what bird cages lack and what birds and bird owners need out of a cage. I shopped through literally hundreds of cages. I had A LOT of cage features/specs I needed to meet, and this one met them all and more. Initially, due to my bird being a chronic bar chewer and also having experienced one minor and one major zinc toxicity, I needed a cage I could really depend on. I did probably a year's worth of research. I learned the safest bet was to either build my own habitat or purchase a stainless steel cage. I rent and am on a budget, so building a habitat posed it's own set of complications. As for stainless steel cages, they are unbelievably expensive! It's outrageous. Not only that, but to be perfectly safe from rust, the cage must be in one solid piece—no building necessary. Now we're talking thousands upon thousands of dollars. It's insane, and ultimately for us, undoable. So back to powder-coated cages my research had to go. This posed it's own set of seriously troubling complications. After finding WAY too many stories of people recently losing their birds from metal toxicities leached from top, name-brand, powder-coated cages, I sought to determine why this was happening. What I learned was that the majority of the common top cage manufacturers (A&E, Prevue, etc.) apparently began outsourcing their manufacturing to China in recent years. This means quality control is regulated by China, and it often much looser than in the US when it comes to testing the various levels of potentially dangerous metals in paint. (Now, I'm no expert on any of this, and this is all research I did a year ago, so please do your own research before taking my word as I'm not trying to share incorrect or outdated information. Things may/may have changed. As for me, what I learned was enough to be convinced into no longer trusting these companies.) Story after story, birds were dying of metal toxicities. Eventually, many of these people began taking samples of these cages to get the quality tested only to find that there were indeed high levels of metals toxic to birds. (Look into how companies test the quality of products. It can be very infrequent and lax; they simply cannot test each and every product, every batch of paint, etc. There's a lot of room for negligence and oversight. The manufacturing companies that make the cages are also not the same companies that know birds and do the research on how detrimental poor paint quality can be on their health.) I found story after story of people saying they had birds for decades, trusted these companies for decades, and then about five years ago, everything changed. At this point, I had no idea what I was going to do. I don't even know how I stumbled upon King's Cages. All I remember was reading that they consistently have the strongest powder-coating (I think they apply it twice, if I remember correctly), and that they manufacture the cages THEMSELVES here in the US!!! Then I went over to their website, their Amazon page, their social media pages, everything I could think of. I was blown away by the features of the cages. It is just so obvious they are bird people! I've had sooooo many cages in the past, and this is just a work of art. There are so many doors, food bowls, openings to perch, and the quality is just perfect. The cage assembles like butter. Weird, I know, but get one and you'll see. It's just obvious they care and that they critically think about how to design these cages. And they have SOOOO many options, sizes, and colors! (I'm loving the white. It's my first white cage, and beside it being beautiful, I'm obsessed with how easy it is to monitor the cleanliness of the cage/bars when the white makes it impossible not to see every little food crumb my bird spreads along the bars. I had only one issue with the design of the cage, but I really wouldn't call it a flaw. The cage I purchased is technically too small for my bird. I have an Amazon who's reaching her elderly years, and she often falls off perches when she sleeps. I wanted to downgrade in size to eliminate how far she falls when she does. She also is rarely confined to a closed cage, and when she is, she picks a single perch and sleeps. She's never been one to utilize space, so I found it safer to downsize. I mention all this because that means she's significantly bigger, stronger, and heavier than the birds intended for this cage. So it's not a flaw, just an obstacle. My favorite feature about the cage is probably the drop down door in the front. I knew it'd be my bird's favorite spot, and it has been. However, when she climbs from inside the cage to onto the opened door platform (I'll post pictures), she'd lift the door just enough with her weight that it became evident she was created a foot trap. Doors are ALWAYS a danger zone for bird toes, so I remedied the issue by applying some scotch felt pads to the opening so that she's never lodge her toes in the space. This has got to be confusing to read, so I'll actually post a video. But I think that just about sums everything up! If I have anything to add, I'll come back to do so. Otherwise, if you never see another update on this review, rest assured we are still loving the cage to the degree we are now! I want to buy another cage from them just for the hell of it. THANKS SO MUCH BONKA BIRD TOYS/KING'S CAGES!!!!!!! (After writing all this, forgive me, but I'm not proof reading it. Hope it all makes sense. If not, ultimately my recommendation is to BUY FROM THEM!!!!)

Love my bird cage.
My baby comes tomorrow and I really feel like a 53 year old girl at Christmas. I bought this cage because I wanted my baby Kiwi to have and love her new home. I bought the coppertone and it matches my house perfectly.. I would definitely buy again. I will tell you there are no written instructions so you have to follow pictures.. not the easiest but can be done. Took us about 90 minutes..
