World building and crafting epic characters is the author's forté! I truly loved the story and the plot twist. My favourite character was Kautilya. The author, Mr. Deepak Thomas, has carefully figured out the hidden intentions of each and every character. I honestly loved the war tactics that were discussed in the second half of the book. Excited to read the next part!!! ✨

It's amazing when a debut novel is written so well and conceived so brilliantly that it makes you forget the writer hasn't been in the scene for years yet!I've been reading a lot of self-published novels of late, and this one clearly stands out.From the plot, backdrop, research of ancient Indian mythological themes to the flawless execution of the simple-to-read yet impactful language.Another thing that stood out as soon as I first held the paperback was the level of professionalism in getting the cover design, interior formatting and overall look and feel of the book. It has some really well developed characters, that you'll fall in love with. Especially with Kautilya, in how she goes from being a timid little girl to become a feisty warrior.There are scenes in the book where you root with all your heart for the protagonist on the one hand, but you find a part of you guilty of rooting for the villain on the other.It puts you in moral dilemmas, it makes you choose the right from wrong, but it makes you question whether the "right" is enough, given what is at stake is the love of her life, the pride of her family and the future of a nation.There are scenes in the book that gave me goosebumps. It kept me hooked till the end. And left me wanting to know what happens next.Overall, a good read for anyone looking for a soulful fantasy tale set in an Indian context.

Thoroughly enjoyed this journey into the fictional world created by the writer. I have to say I was totally hooked and finished this in one night. Totally loved the diversity and detail of the mythical world created by the writer and how he interwove so many major characters wit h their own individual story arcs into a well composed story. Fans of the fantasy/period drama genre should definitely give this one a read. Would be worth your time.

Great sense of writing...written so deep into the scenes...And that "never yielding" attitude...the boldness and intelligence of Kautilya and still standing on the feet after losing everything... Really awesome... A woman centred story from a male writer is commendable... But something felt hollow at the end...As Purogata chose* The princess should have taken over the throne and rule the nation in the right direction... "Born to be King" ... Looking forward to the next part...
