I ordered this Science Advent Calendar for my 10-year-old grandson. Some of the experiments may be a bit simple for him like the mixing color one but I think he will have fun with all of them.The instruction manual tells you each day what you need to supply yourself but most of the items are everyday kitchen things. The only ones I thought might be worth thinking ahead for are Cola or Sprite bottles for the hurricane and a paint brush.The manual also has a QR Code that you can scan with a smart phone, and it will pull up a video instruction of the experiment. While I don't think the extra instruction is necessary it seems anything involving screens becomes a bit more interesting for young people😉I am happy with this Calendar. I'm sure it will be a hit with all the grandkids.I highly recommend it.

I have a small budding scientist and he's super excited to get to do this in December. He loved doing the science experiments that comes in giant boxes but he doesnt know when to stop and we make a huge mess by the time were done. Hopefully with this we'll be able to do one a day and keep the mess to a minimum. He can't wait to see what he gets to do as the days go by and I love that he's curious enough to learn how things work. This would be a great present if you have a reason to give it before December.

I got a different Advent calendar for each of my kids this year and this is for my youngest. It is really cool with a bunch of different experiments to keep him busy. We are off video games so I love that this will give him a fun activity he can entertain himself with after we finish school each day and he will be able to learn more about science in the process as well.

I opened this to check it out ahead of time in case there was an issue. This is an advent calendar and in the main box are other, smaller boxes. Each one of the smaller boxes is numbered for a different day. There are 24 smaller boxes. Inside each smaller box is a different science experiment. There is a small manual that provides some safety information and explanation about each experiment. There is a QR code on most pages that links to a video to help with the experiment.The box I received came with two “24” boxes and no “23” box. The 24 box has a plastic volcano in it for an experiment when you make it erupt. It is just a prop and there is no need to have two of them. The 23 box, according to the manual, is supposed to contain dinosaur eggs and a small hammer. You are supposed to be able to chip the dinosaurs out of the eggs like an archeologist. Mine did not come with this experiment. This is disappointing. I have searched through the manual and on the box for information about the company to try and contact them to have a box 23 sent, but I cannot find any information. I have to return the whole thing and order a new one through Amazon. It’s a shame that the quality control on this product is so poor, because it’s a neat concept and if all the pieces were there, it would be a great advent calendar.

Advent calendars for kids usually have candy associated with them. This is the first one I have found with a science theme and I was super happy to find an educational option. Obviously, we cannot actually use this until Advent but as far as packaging goes, it is full of a lot of really great stuff and am happy to update this with the outcome of all the experiments.

What a great kit! I'm going to set it up each night with my elf on the shelf. It will be fun for my kiddos to have a daily science experiment. Some additional supplies are required, but they are things you probably have around the house - like an empty water bottle. I'm really looking forward to using this kit. Good for kids 6-12 ages. Fun! Good instructions! Good for a gift! Good price!
