Springblinds 5% Openness Solar Shade - Indoor Outdoor Sunscreen Corded Roller Shade

I bought this shade for some windows near the ceiling in our living room that let in a lot of afternoon light and heat. Our ceiling is high, so the shade had to be installed 12 feet off the ground. A roller shade with a chain cord seemed like the most straightforward solution to being able to raise and lower a window covering that far off the ground.The shade is exactly what I expected as far as color and how much light filters through. It blocks most of the heat, but doesn't make the room too dark. The operation is smooth, it was easy to install, and it has held up very well so far (about 2 months of use).The only problem I ran into is that, since the shade was installed so high up, I couldn't reach the draw chain from the floor without a stepping stool. I contacted the seller to ask about ordering a longer chain. They responded promptly and said they would send me a new chain free of charge, all I had to do was let them know the exact length I wanted the new chain to be. The new chain they sent me works perfectly, but also, it is metal instead of the original plastic one that came with the shade. For outdoor use, the plastic chain would have been the way to go to avoid rust, but for indoors, I'm glad they sent me the metal one. It hangs better and looks a little nicer. Good call on the seller's part.As another reviewer helpfully pointed out, the total width of the shade includes the mounting hardware, so the actual window covering is an inch or two less than the total width listed. I was doing an out mount installation, so I added an extra inch to the width of the shade I ordered to ensure the entire window would be covered. Without that extra inch, there would have definitely been gaps letting in light on either side of the covering, so it was a helpful note for me.Overall I'm very happy with this purchase and am planning on getting another to replace an old outdoor shade we have. We live in a very salty, corrosive environment, so it will be interesting to see how well one of these holds up outside.

These four large shades are perfect. They are light gray and block out the afternoon sun. Only problem is that one of the four chains has rusted snd is now an ugly brown. The other three chains are silver plastic and perfect. Can you send me a new silver plastic 12’ chainto replace the rusted one? I will then add the fifth star.

Best purchase I've made in a long while! It's extended the time we can spend on the back patio (the family's favorite spot) and helps to keep the temperature down. I love that it's not totally opaque, that way you don't feel as if your blocking out the best part of being outdoors, the outdoors. I do have one minor complaint, and it is very minor, I wish the chain were black (or you had the option to select a black or white chain). Then it would blend in better with our dark exteriors. Overall, extremely happy with this product. Would highly recommend!

Purchased 3 shades, installed exactly alike, however, when I retracted one of the shades it kept getting caught on something and fell on my head several times. It took a lot of trial and error to discover there was a plastic burr on the end pin. As the shade was retracted, the burr caught on the left bracket which caused the piston on the end pin to retrack causing the shade to fall. Once I noticed the burr, I filed it off which solved the situation. Also, I tried to contact the company online for suggestions as to how to stabilize the shade from the wind with NO response even though they advertised a 24 to 48 hour response. The shade material is quality but not the end pin or the cord. It would be nice if the cord was the same color as the shade and made more durable. Wouldn't recommend this company.

We love our roller shade works very well blocks I’d say 70% of the sun so you can sit on your porch when the sun is shining directly at you it does let some sun in it doesn’t block it out all the way

Updating this review from 3 to 4 stars. Was contacted promptly after submitting my original review (below) and a new cord arrived within a few days. Removing the blind and installing was very easy. I would order again.The blinds are lovely and were easy to install. I'm especially happy that I can still see out the windows and have good air circulation with them lowered. After several weeks, seller has not responded to either an e-mail or voice mail regarding cord replacement. This is very disappointing considering the cost of the blinds and the fact that the cord affects my ability to completely lower the blind. Would have rated 5 stars otherwise.

So I wanted to wait a few weeks to see how this held up, because my handyman said it felt flimsy. (He said the tube inside the roller shade was slightly bowed, as it was “probably made of cardboard,” according to him.) But so far so good. The slight bow doesn’t seem a problem. It rolls up and down just fine, and does a great job of filtering the sun on my back porch. I’ll report again in a year... just to make sure it’s still holding up. :)Update July 2022: Still works great. It helps a LOT. Would def recommend!

We were looking for outdoor shades to block the sun and privacy on our porch and these are perfect!! Great price, look great, do a fantastic job blocking the sun and very easy to install. The custom ordering was also very easy for a window that was a little different in size than the others.
