The lamp has separate bulbs on either end. In the bottom (or front), there's a bright yellow/white spotlight that is perfect for illuminating a desk, workstation, breakfast table, etc.The front light gets very bright, and is fully dimmable with the included remote. The remote works very well, and intuitively controls every function of the light.What makes this lamp unique is the rear light. It has many colors to choose from, and this light is more diffuse. However, since there are only colored options for this light, it seems best to be used at night for a bit of ambiance. I prefer the green light; at night, it provides good illumination without being too bright.The lamp was easy to assemble and, despite its simple construction, feels sturdy and well made.Keep in mind this is more of a directed light lamp rather than a diffuse light lamp (the kind with just an exposed bulb and a shade). If that's what you're looking for, this lamp is fantastic!

We had an area of my daughter's bedroom that was dark. Since the room has no overhead lighting, the lamp on the table did not provide good lighting to the other area. Since my daughter read and crafts in that area, we needed better lighting. We came across this lamp and I figured it was worth a try. My daughter is thrilled with it! It provides good lighting, so from the practical end of things, I am pleased. My daughter really likes the fun aspect of this lamp. The dual side lighting, color options, and the remote make this a win for her. Overall, I am very pleased. It is sturdy and well-made and lights the area well. My daughter is pleased because it is not a typical boring lamp and offers fun features that she can select and change the setting in her room.

I needed a floor lamp for a dark corner of the living room to sit behind a chair in a compact space. This sleek floor lamp looked like it would do the job. It comes in a tidy compact package. The base has a solid heavy weight to it that easily keeps the lamp sturdy. It is very easy to assemble -- you join three threaded tubes together, fishing the cord, which is attached to the base, through each tube. Because the cord comes folded up, the kinks make it hard to fish through the tubes, so I taped a pen onto the cord to make it easy. The cord does come up a bit shy/short on the last tube to attach to the light fixture portion. I had to loosen the cord at the base to give it slack. Then, once attached to the light fixture, pull the cord back down at the base so there wasn't too much excess to fit in the tube. The connector in the light fixture is also stuck a little too much into the fixture, but can easily be popped out to make it easier to connect to the cord coming out of the tube. The light fixture has a rubbery flexible neck, but the adjustability is only up and down, not side to side. The light cannister will adjust side-to side. Using the button controls on the lamp's neck are fussy -- not very responsive to touch. Using the remote control is better that way. The remote has a CR2025 battery. The battery cover must be unscrewed to replace it. The plastic is soft, so if using a screwdriver or quarter in the slot, it does chip up the cover a little. But you don't need to do this right away (not until the battery needs replacing) as you just pull out a plastic strip that keeps the battery from activating. The remote will magnetically attach to the neck of the lamp, however, the magnet is weak and the remote slides down the neck. Definitely a design flaw -- hard to understand how that wouldn't be tested and seen as insufficient. The remote does have a hole designed in though, so possibly some kind of strap could be inserted so that it can be hung somewhere. The lighting does as described: changes tones, colors, and dims/brightens. The ambience color feature is nice, but if you have painted walls, it may not show up as vividly. Now that I placed it in the corner, I see that the black doesn't look as complementary to the decor as hoped, so it would be nice if this came in some other finishes, like white, brass, silver, or brown bronze. The design of this lamp has some deficits, but overall it is a quality, functional, compact lamp that I'm happy to have.

You have a choice of 5 types of mood lighting for sleeping, resting or other relaxing activity. The reading light itself is exceptional. You can adjust the temperature or light color plus the brightness. The light is uniformly distrubuted over your reading area. A remote is included so you can sit and adjust the light for best effect. As to the light itself, it is very sturdy and sits very steady. The staff holding the light is strong with a flexible section connecting the light. This allows almost universal movemen of the lighting unit. You easily adjust the light to illuminate the area needed for reading or other purpose. Finally, the light is easily assembled. In summary, a well built sturdy light that can be easily adjusted, is versatile with some very nice extras.
