Great Pocket sized Compact Camera - Wifi connection & management not so great
Bought this camera as a handy go everywhere tool for taking quick photos and have the capability to upload this to scial media using a wifi hotspot. The picture quality is excellent - at 16,1 megapixels, it is possible to crop down to a tiny proportion of the total image and still produce a highly acceptable edited image, which by the way can be achieved 'in camera, with the built in utilities. In fact, for a point & shoot compact camera, it has many settings that can be manually adjusted by those with the knowledge and confidnce to make such changes. The rest of us can rely on its' Smart Auto settings, which leaves the photographer to 'focus' on framing a good photo. With a 32GB Class 10 HD (Micro) SD card, image capacity is enormous -even at full 16mpx, there's room for more than 3000 images. Video can be run at 720p HD and is very sharp. The camera has a rechargeable battery, which is charged through the now ubiquitous micro USB port that is found on many mobile devices these days and means essentially that if you have a car charger for your mobile phone etc, it will serve the camera well. One other 'novel' feature is the frontside screen, which cannot be seen under normal conditions, that is until you press the button for it (located on the top of the camera) and, lo & behold there is the capability for self-portraits a la tablet PCs & smartphones! All the usual functions are there, flash, timer, blink detection, face detection and so on - everything that you might expect of a modern compact in this price range. Now for the not-so great part. Yes there is Wifi but in my experience it has not been easy to use.1. It will detect Wifi Hotspots & access points, as well as Home Network Wifi and in that respect it is as sensitive as most smartphones and tablets. However, there are one or two drawbacks that make it less user friendly:a) It will only connect to a Wifi Hotspot if there is a login requirement - that can be achieved, although anyone who has a smart TV or Tivo box that doesn't have a keyboard attachment, will know about the long and tortuous process of using a keypad to input letters & numbers etc, the rear screen is not touch capable and so you are left to moving the menu cursor around an alphabetic/numeric virtual keyboard, with all its attendant foibles, in order to get anything input at all. That works and mostly, you will get connected right away. BUT, if by chance there is not login requirement, then there is no way to automatically access the wifi network. Unlike most mobile devices, the camera does not 'remember' wifi settings and so you have to login every time. Where there is no login requirement, the only other option available is the 'Press the WPS button' avenue, which is fine if your are somewhere that has a router close by - try doing that in MacDonald's or Costa's.b) even if you do log in successfully and post your image to Facebook, when you are done, the wifi commection is forgotten and so if you want to go back in, you will need to log back in again!2. As mentioned above, the virtual keyboard is only workable via the Menu/Cursor buttons and so doing anything that requires text input will take a very long time to achieve. So, in summary, what do I think of my purchase?Pros: Very high quality images & video from a feature packed compact pocket-sized camera. You couldn't wish for more from a compact.Cons: The Wifi is not at all easy to use and the system has flaws that need ironing out. Not sure what can be done about the virtual keyboard - make the rear screen touch capable? One thing I didn't mention above - that rear screen is virtually un-viewable in strong sunny daylight - like most modern compacts, this camera has no viewfinder and the rear screen is no better or worse than other compacts I have used - indoors no issue but outside on a bright sunny day, hopeless. Maybe one day, camera makers will re-introduce the viewfinder - my last two Canon Powershots had one, so it is possible, even in a small sized camera.

Fab little camera for general use
Only got this the other day so not had any real chance to take it out and about. I already own the Samsung WB600 but have passed it on to my daughter (fab camera no complaints there) but decided at Christmas to treat myself to a new one and i got the Samsung WB850F which i love - picture quality ace BUT i love it so much that i didnt want this to be the camera that i take out with me when i go out with my girlfriends - i just didnt want to risk losing or damaging it so i found this one on amazon for such a great price AND Samsung still have the money back offer to be able to claim £20 back for this camera so i brought it (i got £50 back for the WB850F)so decided to buy.Its small (what i wanted) but very well made and looks great - very easy to use (if your used to having a smart phone its even easier to get the knack of all this camera has to offer) I had no prob connecting to internet for picture sharing - also connect to by laptop and tv - no probs.Picture quality so far has been good (not has gd as the WB850F) but still good enough for group shots/pictures taken out & about. I love the front screen to takes pictures with my friends - makes it sooo much easier than trying to guess your in the right place (and usually your not) I love all the other options it gives you ....loads to play with and try out but i will most prob use the Smart setting more than the others.I have added the link below - just copy & paste it - for anyone who as just brought this camera so you can claim back the £20 as well - the cut off date is 9th Feb so there isnt much time left but i found it really easy to fill the form in on line and send it that way as well. the hardest part was getting the serial number off the bottom of the camera because its soooo small but i just used my mobile to take a picture and enlarged it - prob solved - lol!![...]I will add some photos over the next week to give a idea of picture quality

Very Happy
First of all, I am no Don McCullin - I'm just a point and shoot chap with very simple needs.I've had a couple of Lumix TZ range; alas, lost through car thieves... and the most recent loss resulted in my buying the Sony DSC-HX20V. It's a lovely camera but a tad on the heavy side. Many years ago I had a couple of Casio Exilims and I really liked the ability to pop them into my breast shirt pocket without being concious of the weight. I can do this with the Sony but the weight "is there"!I've had my eye on the DV300F for a long time and, finally, I couldn't resist any longer. It's in my shirt pocket and I don't know it's there! The other reason for wanting this camera (apart from the good reviews on Amazon) was to try out the Wifi ability. I've only had the camera for a few days so am no expert; but, I'm not sure this Wifi part works every time... I've had some success and some failure (am I doing something wrong, I wonder?)Even so, for the price, I am happy with this "dinky" camera (in fact, I purchased two at the same time... the other one for a present).I hope I can resolve the Wifi question marks and then have 100% confidence in it and I'd be grateful if anyone can offer advice on this.
