A horror story with fast moving adventure, the reader will want to keep reading, not wanting to put the book down.
Lex Sinclair was highly commended by the judges of the Terry Hetherington Young Writers Award 2011 for his poem 'The Scarecrow' He has continued to delight readers with his novels; 'Neighbourhood Watch' and 'Killer Spiders. 'Goats Head leaves the reader totally absorbed.Sophie Lackberg(Swedish born) is a bright young student of law. She has just one friend and fellow student Janice. In an effort to meet her financial needs Sophie applies for a post as a care assistant for one night. The pay is good and Janice drives her to her destination of horror. The elderly couple living at..a 'Victorian house of gothic architecture with twin turrets...'not only had a foreboding auro'. Sophie was to fall victim of foreboding happenings. Janice returned to the house in attempt to investigate the disappearance of her friend, she too became a victim to the evil within the house of gothic architecture. Who was responsible for the 'child' Sophie was carrying? The story reveals this token of 'The Goat's Head' novel. The author writes of violence and danger, but not of these alone, for, he seeks to capture a sense of adventure, using rich and coloured vocabulary. His words provide the pictures to colour the fast moving storyThe basis of Lex Sinclair's novels contain horror, but they are also adventure stories. There is a complex evocation relating to the characters, and a psychological background that is connected to each character's behaviour. I am waiting for the sequel.

Masterfully crafted page turner!
Lex Sinclair is a true modern master of suspense! His character development is wonderfully executed and is very much in the same vein as some of the greats such as Stephen King. The Goat's Head is a beautifully complex story infused with powerful imagery that will leave you on the edge of your seat. It grabs you from the very first page and doesn't let go.

Sinclair's Best Yet!
The Goat's Head is a prelude to Neighbourhood Watch (by the same author). The origins of the beast with the goat's head would've been interesting enough. But for me, unlike Neighbourhood Watch, The Goat's Head focuses instead on one main protagonist. Sofie Lackberg's sole duty is to give birth to the beast with the goat's head. It was planned for her by devil worshippers long before she was born. Sofie's resistance and likability are key factors. But what I liked about the book is that it was short and because of this not a single paragraph was wasted or slowed the pace. I could definitely see this as a film. Making because Sinclair's writing is so visual or because of the content. But for me, it's his best yet. I'd have to start regarding Sinclair as good as Campbell, Herbert and even the often comparable Stephen King.
