Sometimes it can last all day and then other times it peels off within half an hour. I think it just depends on what part of the lip you need it. It will get white around the edges and lift up from your lip and this is when it can be peel off easily. If it hasn't started to peel and you wish to remove it, please don't pick and pull as I did this and caused the top layer of skin to come with it which was painful, just soak with some warm water and it starts to melt. This is the only product that reduces the healing time or even stops a breakout from the tingle and I have tried lots!

U can but i dont its the best thing i have ever used for cold sores i leave it on all day then wash it off b4 bed and put a fresh layer on over night.it really does cut the cold sore stages by half and stops them from spreading.
