I have two of these, and have used them one season. The programming is extremely easy to use and gives you enough options -- much simpler than the some of the other digital ones. The easy programming is a big plus if you are establishing a lawn and need to start with a lot of watering and then reduce it over time. The batteries are very easy to change ... and you should plan to run through a set of 3 AA batteries about every six weeks if you have the valves working daily. There is a low-battery indicator to let you know when they need to be changed. Overall, ease-of-use is a huge plus on this item. Like another reviewer noted ... you do have to replace the cover each time after changing the programming, which takes about 5 seconds.You can set the start time so that if you are using multiple units they do not run at the same time. I've had good luck with reliability this season, better than the Melnor digital units, which I've basically retired due to the valves not closing all the way.

I love these timers. I have several. They’re simple and easy to use. And so far they have good longevity.

This thing is durable. I got sidetracked this year with another project and never got around to blowing out my sprinkler systems or taking these timers inside. They all survived a NJ winter that had some pretty frigid days. I have three of them in service and plan to add two more zones this year. I was going to switch to a more centrally controlled system but the simplicity and reliability of these timers cancelled that thought out.These have all been in service for about 4 years now. They control the irrigation for all my garden beds. The only negative thing I have to say is that I wish they would make a sound whenever the batteries were running low. I found out one of them was dead after my vegetable gardens starting looking as little worse for wear.

This is the third Orbit timer I have purchased in the last year, installed it last week, worked for a few days and now does not work. Shows 12:00 on the "Set Start" display and set time display is hours off. have changed the new Energizer Alkaline batteries twice. Orbit customer service is a joke. Tried to do a call-back, tried to do a chat, nothing works. I ordered this one as a spare, had it a few months so it is outside the return window. I am going to Home Depot to find another brand of hose end timer.

I now have a several of these. Of all the timers I’ve bought over the years, this is the most reliable. I can count on it still working for season after season. It is very easy to use with no instructions since its interface is well designed. It isn’t complex with multiple programming options so if you need that then this may not be the timer for you but for straight forward simple to use you can’t beat this.

I use this timer for my greenhouse irrigation system. I installed the same unit 11 years ago, and it just stopped working this year. It isn't always in a good environment, as it gets very hot and humid in the summer. I am satisfied that this is a reliable device, especially for the relatively inexpensive cost. I would definitely recommend this timer.

The timer is amazing! I noticed when the battery starts dying that the timer can start working erratically, so for longer durations I switched to energizer lithium batteries. No issues after switching batteries.

The best outdoor, simple to use, timer we have ever found. This is our second one after the first one endured more than ten years of our northern Canadian climate. We use it every year from thaw to freeze-up. Very pleased to find it here, at a great price, delivered to my door, exactly as described.

I have 2 older Orbit timers like this one (8 and 6 years old) that have worked flawlessly over the years. The oldest wouldn't work when I put new batteries in it this spring. 8 years is good service for this type of device, so I went searching for an exact replacement. I thought this unit was it. It looks absolutely identical to both older units. But it turns out the model number and US patent number are both different, so the internals are different. It also doesn't perform like the old ones. It keeps resetting the times to 12:00 after it runs, which makes it absolutely useless as a timer. So I'm returning it and will have to find something else to replace the old one.

This timer is very easy to use and test for functionality so dead plants needn't be your first indication of an operating or programing problem. Plus it keeps on working year after year.
