(Updated) Better than Asus ZenWifi XT8
Updated:Still super happy, been flawless so far. Wired download hovers around 945mb and upload around 110mb. Wireless speed depends on distance and client, with an AX MIMOx2 client (m1 macbook air) i get connection at 1200mbps in the same room and real world ~800mbps throughput when in the same room as an access point. At the bottom of the garden (25m + conservatory + brick & block wall in direct line of sight) i get connection at 420mbps and realworld throughput of around 300mbps.Wireless is noticeably more reliable than previous BT wholehome AC kit and incomparably better than Asus ZenWifi XT8. This really is the killer feature for me rather than the excellent speed. I wouldn’t notice a 500mbps massively slower speed in regular usage but i would notice every single little glitch for a fraction of a second. There have been no glitches with the eero, glitches happened a few times per month with bt wholehome and glitches happened every hour or two with zenwifi xt8.Original:I did a ton of research and learned that basically the best AX wifi system is the Asus Zenwifi XT8. So i bought a 2 unit pack. I configured them with a WIRED cat6 backhaul and was pretty disappointed with the connect speeds (struggled to get full 2x2 AX 1200mbps even sat 5ft away. My nest cameras kept dropping off the network. Trailing through the logs there was a specific issue coming up, turns out Asus have had that wifi issue for years across several AX wifi products. Anyway, with the guidance of some expert enthusiast users on the asus forums, i reconfigured everything, splitting the 2x 5Ghz bands, moving the 2.4ghz to be its own, changing a whole bunch of settings in the process. Net result? I could get more reliable full speed AX for slightly further distances, but still in the same room, but nothing could be done about about the devices affected by the asus wifi beacon issue. So i returned them. Now the eero pro 6 i’d previously discounted because in various publications, the wifi speed test results were up to 80mbps slower than the xt8. Also it got slated for being called Pro and yet being completely lacking in features. One thing stand out to me, the cpu and memory in the eero pro 6 were both larger than the competition.Anyway, i decided i wanted reliable and every review i could find praised eero for reliability. I have to say, setup couldn’t be easier. The user experience is excellent - even down too silly little things like the app keeps your phone screen on while you’re fishing a cable through behind the tv for 5 mins. Nice touch!Setup was easy. There’s basically no features in the app - i could set custom ipv4 and ipv6 dns (cloudflare). I could configure Ad blocking. I could set usage schedules but i have no use for that. And i think that’s about all the features. However, the wifi in my case is FASTER than the xt8, I can get full 1200mbps 2x2 AX in the next room (it drops to 848mbps pretty easily at that distance right enough).I wish i had ignored the internet and just bought this to begin with. Now I’m considering replacing my hue bridge with the zigbee feature on these. Now that is a silly idea tempting fate but I’m tempted to try it because I’ma sucker for punishment it seems.

Strong signal, great stability, need more power
I have used Eero Pro Gen 1 since its released, in a 3-unit bundle. First impression opening the box of this router... it's HUGE... indeed not that huge comparing to other mesh routers, it's just a lot bigger than my gen 1. It's also quite heavy, feels very dense holding it, like hold an Apple device or Apple chargers.Setup is a breeze as I'm already using Eero. Just plug in, add it in the app while it's detected. That's it.BTW, my gen 1 can be powered by its originally 24W charger, as well as other PD chargers like Apple 20W charger or other more powerful Anker PD chargers. However for this Pro 6, the gen 1's 24W charger is no longer adequate and making it flashing yellow light. Its charger stated 27W, or other more powerful PD chargers also works. So Apple 20W tiny charger can no longer drive this router. Not an issue, just to pay attention as nowadays we tends to mix up all USB chargers in use.I buy Pro 6, hopefully get a newer model to see if it'd connect to Canon Injet per my friend told me his Eero-Canon combination works. Turn out both my Canon printers still can't connect to Eero WIFI even they both stated the same WIFI protocols. The issue should be with Canon, as I have no issues with any other devices and other printer brands. But I do enjoy another benefit. It covers a room upstairs with good signal, that previously my gen 1 can't penetrate through. So all blindspots eliminated finally.I've never need to switch off my Eeros or restart them. That shows their stability. Maybe occasionally they'd upgrade their software and reboot themselves, that may help. This one is also so far so good as my gen 1.For speed, they works with my 360 mbps internet, so as my Gen 1. So I need to try 1gbps in the future to know how it works. I don't have my 10gbps gears anymore for years so I can't test their limits or no point getting newer Eero for the moment.
