Great for the restless violinist
I prefer to play violin without a shoulder rest but needed something to stop the violin from slipping and sliding. I have tried foam pads, cushions, leather remnants and many various shoulder rests. For me, the GelRest Micro works best. It allow placement of the violin on my collarbone and adds stability and support without raising the instrument or transferring the weight to the shoulder. I am able to retain freedom of motion and comfort. The adhesion is excellent and it does not dampen the sound. Thus far I am quite pleased. I leave it attached to my instrument and hope that it will not damage the varnish.

Works if you dont need a rest normally, just not me.
It might work well if you don't normally use a rest, but for me it was just too shallow to be able to use. It may only be an inch thick, maybe less. Just not going to work for me. The chin rest is pretty awesome though, nice and thin, sticks awesome.

Wouldn't Recommend - adhesive too strong, way too thin to be an effective rest
so excited to receive! Loved the idea of this, but it came and was so thin it wasn't effective. I worked with it for 2 weeks to try and adjust, but it just wasn't working - so went to remove it - and it the adhesive was SO STRONG it took my violin's finish with it and left so much adhesive sticky stuff on my violin. $200 later to have the adhesive removed and the finish repaired, wouldn't recommend to anyone.
