Powerful
I loved reading about Israel and all the history that is so accurate in my own understanding of the Word of God! It has strengthened my faith and my love for my God and Saviour!

Creative compelling epic but disappoints in it's conclusion
As a born again believer and lover of Israel and the Jewish people through whom came The Scripture, The Law, The Covenants, and above all, Jesus (Jeshua) my beloved King, Savior and Bridegroom, I found this reading fascinating! The whole concept was wildly off the novel norm! As I adjusted to a trip through the history of God's chosen people, their unfaithfulness, exile, bondage, and redemption, touched me deeply. For, it is our journey as New Covenant believers, too, as Holy Spirit sanctifies us. Truly, the consistent persecution has been beyond any natural explanation. Israel is God's beloved and He tells us, it will be His final place of rest for Him and His people, saved by grace through faith alone. The characters were complex and endearing. Not to ruin it for anyone for it is worth the read, I was getting uncomfortable when we hit the Tribulation (which is when Jacob will be saved on a large scale) and there was little talk of Jesus except one rejected testimony from a Dutch woman. Unfortunately my fears were born out. It cannot be Scriptural in one area and not another. As Jesus said, "The Scripture cannot be broken" John 10:35Ms. Arthur was always a lover of Christ, an anointed Bible teacher, and a unique first of her kind during the awakening of the 60's. 70's and 80's. Dual Covenant Theology as well as Replacement Theology were born of the natural man in Christians who wanted to reconcile the rejection of the Messiah by most of the Jewish nation with God's passionate love for them. I trust she has matured in her knowledge of God's word and Father's offering to all men without partiality.I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation to all "who believe", first to the Jew, and also, to the Gentile" Romans 1:16A disclaimer or retraction of customized alternative ways of salvation would be prudent. The remnant of Jews saved now and during the Great Tribulation will be saved by grace through faith like all of us! As much as I loved the brilliant work I cannot promulgate a deception with such eternal consequences.Would have been 5 stars for me.

a book written with research and insight, following the history of the nation of Israel.
whilst reading this book, i have people popping into my mind, who i would love to give this book to.i am jewish, i studied and accepted yeshua is messiah.kay arthur has a talent, i feel like jeremiah and daniel have been brought alive to me, i feel the application of scriptures in conversations in this book jump off the page and to the heart. the unfolding of events in jewish history , i feel i am sharing with the characters as i read.i cried as i just had not thought deep enough how devastating it was during the times where the romans snatched babies from their mothers.kay arthur has a gift of communicating biblical and historical events, and she has found a way to write for jewish readers, so they can read about their history and heritage , and also read about Yeshua, factually.the book is tactfully written, and i feel purposely written not as a witnessing tool, that is not even neccessary .any one who wants to learn the whole history of israel in a very readable way would love this book, and considering it is a novel, kay arthur has covered so many historical events that it is also a history lesson.you will feel like you are walking the land and walking the life of israel and the plight of the jewish people.miriam fauth.

Light bulb went off
I am a student of Precepts Bible Ministry and happen to be in the study of Daniel which this novel refers to so wonderfully. Sometimes reading a novel about a truth helps me better understand and put things in perspective. I will be checking to see if Kay has written other books around the teachings of God. I can't recommend this strongly enough, especially if you are a believer who desires to learn more.Thank you Kay

A Beloved Story!
I saw Kay Arthur on tv doing a series on the covenant and really enjoyed the way she explained things. She mentioned that she wrote a book called Israel, My Beloved, so I was curious.I'm glad I brought the book. The story covers a time span from Jeremiah the prophet to the not too distant future. It deals with marriage, faithfulness and infidility, slavery, idolatry, suffering, hope.At times it was quite hard to read - I never knew the history of Jewish people (outside of the bible and excluding World War II). It was if nothing else, a brilliant look into the history of a nation. But it was more than that. Kay Arthur has a wonderful way with words, taking quite complex and difficult subject matters (for example the rape of women at the hands of an invading force), and doesn't make it sordid or weak. I really enjoyed reading this book and felt a little sad when I finished the last page. This is a wonderful book. You won't regret buying it!

Beautiful!
This is the beautiful story of Israel. The writer touched my heart with the history of Israel in such a way you I felt as though I was traveling through the centuries with Sarah,Jared, and the others. The story brought a new insight into the hearts of the Jewish people, the terrible treatment this people have endured.Thank you Kay Arthur for bringing the nation of Israel to me in such a heart touching way, a way I will never forget. Shalom.

One of the best books I've ever read
This book was excellent, and I couldn't put it down - I think it helped me see more of the love of the Lord and how we must as His peple be close to His Word and be obedient. The hatred of God's Chosen people is so hard for them to bear and continues today as we know. Every Word of God is true and this book draws us towards God and His promises and plans and He will never let us down. I need to re-read again and have recommended it to many. We must love and stand with His peoople Israel.

I like Kay Arthur
I like Kay Arthur, but I do not like what she has done to this novel. Biblical names have been misappropriated, dates and places also out of context. But I suppose if one can read as a novel, and not to try and assosciate it with the historical stories in the Bible then you may enjoy it. I couldn't finish it, I found it to frustrating.

Best Book Ever
Right from the start this book had me riveted. It is written as an intriguing novel, yet cleverly interwoven are true biblical facts and prophesy. With the added interest of historical truths, this should supply the reader with a knowledge of the Love of God for His chosen people and land. Alongside this precious love we see the hatred of man for this nation and people.
