the heart is not mentioned in the book even once and only woman whose heart is overflowing with love is truly fulfilled and empo
Behind the practice meant to be 'for women' is a perfectly disguised veneration of the masculine, whether at the physical level, or in 'illumination of the mind'...Sadly, the heart is not mentioned in the book even once and only woman whose heart is overflowing with love is truly fulfilled and empowered. And in a closer look a woman is discouraged to follow anything that would open her heart (including intercourse), and thus keep her authentic feminine power suppressed. Is that a worthy trade of for eternal youth? For some maybe...but it's sad. I'd rather enjoy the fullness of passionate lovemaking and the overflowing joy of my heart being filled with love! You do not have to follow all of the script though, there are some good restoration techniques to follow and tips you can do with your partner.

The White Tigress really exists!
If you love studying the practices of foreign culture in all aspects, you will find this informative book about the Taoist women's beliefs about the power of positive sexually energy.I read Memoirs of a Geisha years ago and found it fascinating. The traditions and beliefs of White Tigress training is a similar type of Eastern practice that empowers the female presence without compromising her moral or spiritual virtues. This is an interesting concept in acknowledging sexual energy with spiritual energy.White Tigress women find ways to grow spiritually in seeking immortalessness through their devoted sexual practices. Being submissive, and quiet are practices that are not sexual in nature but will stimulate the appeal of these women to men. Pornography and White Tigress training use similar methods in attracting the male energy that sustains the youth and beauty of the trainees. Pornography seeks wealth as an advantage and White Tigresses consider their techniques as more nurturing.

I would strongly recommend Passion Play
If you are interested in the topic, and reading on it in general, it provides and interesting counter point to the other Daoist manual, but if you are looking for ideas to enhance yours, or your patient's lives, I would strongly recommend Passion Play, by Felice Dunas

Fascinating documentation; confused moral analysis
Hsi Lai presents a very interesting and well-documented (as far as Madame Lin, his main source of White Tigress information, would divulge) treatise on the White Tigress teachings, a set of practices (largely sexual in nature but also including elements of meditation of physical exercise) designed to restore the youthfulness (both mentally and physically) of a woman. Readers hoping to replicate the entire White Tigress experience by themselves from this book should proceed with extreme caution - it is quite obvious that Hsi either isn't divulging everything he knows in this book or that he doesn't know enough. Either way, any reader interested in taking up the practice would be best advised to use this book only as a means of getting to know the overall philosophy and progression arc of White Tigress training.Hsi Lai falters in two areas: first, he attempts to rehabilitate the reputation of White Tigresses by claiming that they were misunderstood by their contemporaries in ancient China. For instance, he states that mainstream Taoist monks and Confucian moralists made up false legends about White Tigress being sex demons out to drain men of their sexual essence. Thing is, he later goes on to state that because of the lack of available men for White Tigresses to practice on, a White Tigress often had to sexually exhaust a man by performing daily fellatio on him. So the legends *do* have a basis in how White Tigresses behaved then.Second, Hsi tries to dealienate White Tigress concepts by drawing analogies with Christianity, the moral/religious system most familiar to Westerners. The difficulty with this is that the symbolism is only surface at best. For example, Hsi talks about the three key fluids (saliva, blood, and semen) in Taoism and, because there were similar practices involving thoes fluids in Judeo-Christian times, claims that the practice of Catholic Communion also incorporate the three keys fluids in the form of bread (saliva), blood, and baptismal water (semen). There are several difficulties with this: first, it is certainly true that there were similar practices in early Christian times; this hardly means that they were performed by *Christians*. For instance, there were many Greek and Roman sex cults during the time of early Christianity. Second, convergence does not imply same origin - that Christians ended up using baptismal water as a sign of cleansing, and that White Tigresses saw semen as a cleansing fluid does not mean that they attach the same meaning to the fluids or the rites involving these fluids. Hsi here dismisses the deeper and more crucial differences with a wave of the "it's just semantics" hand. This is surprising, since Hsi clearly shows that he can perform an adequate compare-and-contrast if he puts his mind to it. For example, he observes that while on the surface White Tigresses and porn stars/prostitutes act similarly (intense focus on oral sex, exhibitionism, shaved genitalia, etc.) their operating philosophy and end goals couldn't be more different. In summary, while I enjoyed reading about the life and training of White Tigresses, I found Hsi's attempts to defend the White Tigresses morally against their ancient and supposed modern critics flawed and, hence, distracting. He would have written a better book if he had just stuck to documenting the White Tigress lifestyle.

I can't believe I wasted money on this
This book was ridiculous! I can't believe I wasted money on this. Please do not buy this book. Gaining youthfulness through blow jobs is not a thing.

Biased Account
I really love the concept of the White Tigress, a sect of Taoist women who empowered themselves by embracing their sexuality. But this is less of an honest history and more of a titillating "tease" for those who were just waiting to get to the part with the sex tips (and hey, we all were to some extent.) It reads as though Hsi Lai became too influenced by his sexual desire and attraction for the women he was getting to know. One cannot report honestly when emotions have taken over. I think to get a real grasp of the spirituality of the White Tigress teachings, we'll have to wait for another book on the subject.

Well written
Worth the understandings. I’m sure there is a lot more to know . It’s a difficult subject to fully uncover.

A book on sexual generosity and daoist alchemy
This book, together with two other books by Hsi Lai: The Sexual Teachings of the Jade Dragon and White Tigress-Green Dragon, is about something the ancient Greeks called metanoia, which is a physical/spiritual transformation; all three are very important and complement each other, which means that - in my opinion - they all should be read in full before any conclusion is drawn. Hsi Lai writes: 'Sexuality might be the vehicle, but it is certainly not the destination'. It merely helps you to get on the other bank of the river but should not be treated as a goal in itself.Another important aspect of those incredible teachings is turning three poisons of greed, anger and ignorance into three medicines: charity, compassion and wisdom. If one can achieve it through transformational sexual practices contained here, one can do a lot for oneself, the world and others.I think that Daoism in this form, although it's quite heterodox, is for that very reason more convincing than many of the mainstream teachings that fill our bookshelves. Daoism became quite conformist - and thus it betrayed its origins... Hsi Lai offers a welcome correction.

Something new to discover
I bought this book because of the reviews and never regretted. Even to me just a regular admirer of ancient cultures and sex techniques this book was something very special. I can imagine how interesting and useful it is for those who study or practice any kinds of Chinese or Japanese or Indian arts.To me personally it was the thorough explanation and parallels to modern world that the author explained so professionally. It's amazing how much time and efforts goes to invent something in modern medicine that the Chinese have known for thousands of years! And their methods are still more effective yet simple and healthy. The way of White Tigress isn't my way however I'd love to practice certain parts of their art.The author is an amazing writer with the style I'd love to have for myself - easy, relaxed but well-grounded with references to both ancient culture and modern medicine. The exercises at the end of the book that every woman can do every day is a great bonus and do make the book priceless.Overall - amazing discovery both theoretical and practical.
