I ordered this for my Old English Sheepdog who, given half a chance, will roll in anything wet and preferably muddy.It's great for untangling her matted coat. I've never really needed to use the widely-spaced side, the narrowly-spaced teeth always seem to do the dematting job without pulling too much.It doesn't seem to remove much of the undercoat - it collects some of the hair that is probably already loose below the coat surface, but isn't a tool for thinning out a thick coat.Just out on curiosity, I also tried it on my Labrador. They're a fairly short-haired dog, and this tool is NOT advertised for that so it would be unfair to mark it down. It did next to nothing as expected, but my Labrador liked the stroking sensation!All-in-all, a useful dematting tool for long, tangled coats, It removed some loose hairs from the undercoat and is, as expected, not effective on short-haired dogs. 4 stars as the dematting was good but I was hoping it would be a little more effective at deshedding.

This is much better than my usual self cleaning type grooming tools. It gets a lot more of the undercoat at the same time as the loose bits and I'm finding it quicker even though this one is a little small for my husky type size dogs.So this is ideal for medium and small dogs and is better than self release of fur grooming tools we are all familiar with.

I have a couple of long-haired cats, they often play crazy together, playing in the backyard or even go to the next door neighbour's house to visit, every time they play all the mud and dust, I'm too busy to take them to the grooming every day, this comb is a very good solution to my problem, the hair can be directly combed out of the hair that is sticking together, suitable for these naughty guys!

This comb didn't work for my short haired cat, but it works great for my long haired dog, it works great to get the tangles out and doesn't pull him, and he seems to enjoy it when combing, he doesn't put up much of a fight, he's really well behaved!
