Premium shampoo and works for me
The bottle has a flip top that is easy to open/close with wet hands, whilst in the shower. The shampoo has a pleasant smell: warm, woody, and smoky aroma with a slight sweetness, that is not too overpowering and is quite thick but spreads easily and lathers well. Oud is a fragrant, dark and resinous wood used in incense, perfume, and small hand carvings. This all contributes to this shampoo’s premium feel. The active ingredients include Biotin and Argan Oil which may account for my hair feeling nicely moisturised when it had dried, even after swimming. Other ingredients also include Rosemary, Caffeine and Saw Palmetto which are all thought to help prevent hair loss, whilst Salicylic Acid and Allantoin help support a good scalp condition and may also help with hair loss. Therefore, I am optimistic that, although expensive, this premium shampoo will give me a healthy scalp and may even slow down or stop thinning hair.

Best hair growth shampoo ever!!!
Review from my husband. My hair started thinning at the temples over the last few years for which I have used topical minoxidil, which stopped any further loss. However, it was only when I introduced Barsons Shampoo into my hair care routine over the last few months did I notice my temples filling in.I would definitely recommend it to all men out there!!

Shampoo to help thicken your hair
I hadn't heard of Barsons before now but after a bit of research I thought I'd give it a go as my hair is definitely thinning with age! This 250ml bottle is labelled as Oud Shampoo. Again, I hadn't heard of Oud either but it seems to be a fragrant resin from a tree. I have to say my first impressions of this shampoo was that it smelt divine! One of the ingredients caught my eye: biotin. Biotin is one of the B Vitamins that is found in eggs, milk and bananas. A deficiency of Biotin is what seems to cause thinning hair. The shampoo lathered really well and it might just be me but my hair has felt thicker in the last few days. We shall see in the long term how it goes. It's not the cheapest product but if it works it'll be worth every penny.

I like the shampoo but, so far, it's not thickened my hair.
Okay, this is a perfectly good shampoo. It lathers pretty well, cleans well and leaves head and hair feeling healthy. It has a pretty strong fragrance; I'm a huge fan of oud and like it, but it is noticeable and so if the fragrance is not to your liking it would be an issue. So, for me, it's a lovely scented and effective shampoo. However, it's not at all cheap, and this relates to its additional feature; that it promoted hair growth. I've been using it for about 3 weeks and, in honesty, can't say I've noticed any thickening of hair or reversal of receding hairline. I guess reasons for hair loss can be varied and so for some it might help, but not for me. That leaves it, for me, as a nicely scented posh shampoo. 3 stars

Good Mens Shampoo
I got this as I like to change up my shampoo quite often as I find my hair doesn't like if I use the same shampoo too often. The shampoo lathers up really well and after use my hair feels both clean and soft. It also smells nice and I enjoy using it. I have a bit of thinning hair, but I think it's a bit too early to see whether it's helping or not, but it is a nice shampoo.

It's a medicated rival to Morgan's Oudh shampoo for those who love the fragrance...
If you like Oudh (also spelled Oud) then unless you shopped in India or the Middle East for brands like Hamidi, the only common choice for fragranced shampoo in the UK was Morgan's Oudh shampoo. Debenhams stocked it and it can be found on UK Amazon at £3.60/100 ml.So how does this new rival from Barsons in the UK measure up? It costs £8.78/100 ml.Forget the medication for a moment - in my testing this washes well leaving clean hair but doesn't dry it out as it has organ oil in it. The Oud fragrance is strong and remains even after rinsing for several hours afterwards. In terms of value - a little does go a long way. As a special treat, this is great and I love it....yes it is a bit better than its rival but honestly is not 2.5x the value as a cleansing fragranced shampoo alone. The Barsons brand makes a speciality of medicated shampoo that doesn't smell medicated - this has salicylic acid to help control flaking scalp skin, as well as other ingredients said to help stop male pattern hair loss. My guess is that the latter is the rosemary oil.Medically the two licensed effective treatments against male hair loss are Minoxidil + Finasteride used either singly or together as combination Therapy. A 6-month randomised trial comparing rosemary oil and minoxidil 2% in 100 participants found both treatments significantly increased hair count by the 6-month endpoint, with no statistically significant difference between the two groups - so that looks to have evidence behind it as well. The scientific reference is Panahi Y et al. Rosemary oil vs minoxidil 2% for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia: a randomized comparative trial. Skinmed. 2015 Jan-Feb;13(1):15-21.So my conclusion - if you are happy with your hair - the best value for an Oudh shampoo is Morgan's Oudh shampoo. If you have the cash to spend for a "special treat" shampoo, or worry about hair loss, then this Barsons product has science behind its claims and, in my experience, a 250ml bottle will last a lot of washes AND leaves hair looking good.
