Brian Froud's Faeries' Tales

My daughter works in SFX make-up and prosthetics for film/TV and loves painting and sculpting. This beautiful book was on her wish list for Christmas and found it’s way into her stocking! As I spoil her every year with all sorts of goodies, I was curious to know what her favourite gift overall was this year and in less than a heartbeat she said “my Brian Froud Faerie book”!I was chuffed to bits that she chose this book as the illustrations are unbelievable (they look like actual photographs of faeries). This is a real gem of a book - something to keep and look after. There is something magical about books in a way that never quite transfers to your Kindle or iPad. Highly recommend 😊

I was quite disappointed with this book, as I was expecting a book filled with Brian's beautiful pencil drawings of mythical beings. The book however is filled with full page painted portraits of supposed "fairies", which actually just look like middle aged women with pointy ears. The faces are entirely human and not particularly beautiful.I have his books of Trolls and Goblins, which are just so very beautiful, as they are just his lovely drawings of the woodland folk. I was expecting this to be similar.I think if I'd seen the book before purchasing it, I would not have bought it.Which is a real shame, as his Trolls and Goblin volumes are amongst my most treasured books. He's my favourite artist of all time.

This is a really big book, I was really surprised, but the illations are lovely and the stories are nice. The portraits are allot more human in nature but that because the stories are mostly entered around fay who are, for want of a better world, passing as human in our world. This is a book thats allot more grounded in the human world than the fairy world I personally think. Theirs a different tone to this work than with Brians previous works in the world of the fay.

truly truly truly wonderful. As ever an enchanting book from Brian, his make believe world keeps me so very youngat heart, again I am a child of seven, enough about politics, its all for making themselves have a massive ego and bank balance, butthese books from Brian? well they take away everyday misery and take us to far away places, that even at 65 I believe are true.I look through his books over and over with a massive smile on my face. Even when having a MRI scan I closed my eyes, thought of these books and "wrote" a book of my own which I printed for my granddaughters, he spurred me on. Now? I am having a go at drawing and loving every minute.Come on join us in a fabulous make believe world where you are whizzed back to a dreamy childhood. I LOVE IT.

Gorgeous book. They don't make books like these anymore! Transports me back to the eighties/early Nineties and my childhood. Brian Froud evokes so much imagination and the love of faeries and fairy-tale. Very sadly often forgotten in our new world with the strong obsession of graphics and modern technology. This book really awakens the senses, please don't dismiss this book as gothic/Emo fare. It really is so very important I believe to keep children as innocent as possible and this book really does help.

This is another great example of Brian Froud`s imagination and artistic talent. These denizens of Faeie seem to come to life on the page this goes well with his Trolls book which I also have., highly recommended to anyone interested in folklore and mythology. Regards D Sutton.

It is a very large book with great illustrations. There are many illustrations, fabulous creatures as alive. Leafing through the book you find yourself in an enchanted world created by Brian Froud. This book is my love. Delivered safe and sound, brand new. Thank you seller!

I bought this book as a gift for friend who has a lifelong interest in folklore. the illustrations comprise paintings and 3-D models of some of Brian's wonderful Faerie characters, highly recommended for anyone with an interest in fantasy art and mythology.
