Needs a Y splitter Rewritten review
OK, a little background history I've been dealing with audio since I was 14 years old and I'm now 39. So I've had my experience for quite some time in audio, not only upgrading receivers, amplifier, speakers and especially subwoofers over the years from basic home speakers in a box (cheaper one) and jumping price ranges all the way up to 2k or a little more. And from standard subwoofers that lack an amplifier and powered subwoofers, of course. I have to say this is completely worth the money. I do want tp clear up a couple things that might be causing people to hold back or possibility they're setting up their unit incorrectlyRockville gives a really good explanation with only maybe four or five pages on how to set up your receiver and subwoofer including the connection but it also has a QR code with a link for a video if that's more of your thing. It's actually much better sounding than any of the units I ever purchased when I first started getting into audio. It packs a punch and what's more surprising it's $250 all the way up to $300 and sometimes you can get them on special for $230. These are very good subwoofers for starters. They're basically the equivalent of when I first started audio of a unit that was considered middle/high-end brand, but still classified as a middle type of subwoofer packs of punch, deep powerful, and good but affordable. Keep in mind the back then you were spending anywhere from $500-$700 for a medium level type of subwoofer. (which it was very expensive back then) so getting these completely worth the money. It's a party subwoofer.I was skeptical first but they deliver and was surprising it delivered good quality for the money. Keep in mind. My last subwoofer was $1300 when it first came out that was double the size of this unit, the same 15 inch sub but was constant 600 Watts RMS (constant) and 1000+ in peak power. It can hit extremely low bass and hits notes under 20/17hz. While the Rockville caps at 30hz (still good btw) for the price you can't beat it. I would consider it to be a compressed tank versus the more expensive subwoofers are massive tanks if that makes sense? I'll upload some images so you could see. It's basically the same size or a little bit higher than a standard small table for living room. (sitting positioned by your arms on a couch)I'm going to label a few talking points with numbers! Skip those if you're already familiar with audio and know how to fine-tune and set things up yourself.#1It's pretty straightforward. It has multiple ways to connect but the way you want to connect these for a home theater is use a sub/coaxial cable + Y splitter..#2The instruction manual and I'll upload an image specifically says that it does not have an LFE sub connection, which means low frequency effects and it's suggested to use a Y cable splitter: 2 males to 1 female type. So make sure to have one of these handy. You can buy a cheap one for about $7/10 or a decent one for 12/15 bucks but practically any one of them will work just make sure that it's nicely built and not one of those rubber ones that looked like you bought them in RadioShack for two dollars. lol#3Connect from your subwoofer out which either has 1 RCA connection or an LFE for the subwoofer, and then on the opposite end add the Y cable (2 male plug RCA into left/right) on the subwoofer. Basically, forcing the subwoofer cable from one plug-in RCA into a double into the subwoofer. This actually forces the subwoofer to get double the line power if you use a single one, you'll have to increase the volume more and it will sound lower because the signal is 1. The instruction manual goes into detail and pretty simple. This normally adds extra power at lower volume levels to the subwoofer, giving it a boost of about +3 and then some other subwoofers +6. I can't comment on the boost because I'm not familiar with the components, but I will say it gives it a +3 and extra power at lower volume levels. I'm not getting into back-and-forth on the never-ending Y cable argument, but the instruction manual specifically says to use it versus other subwoofers will say to use LFE and 1 line. Also crank the crossover in the back of the subwoofer to 150 which is the maximum. Then said all your speaker crossovers on the AVR to 80 Hz so that it sends the majority of the bass of the sub itself.#Build QualityConstruction of the subwoofer itself is very basic, like a standard classic subwoofer box. The woofer is decent and the amplifier packs of punch. For what you're spending it has very good functionality and flexible.#Negative (not a negative)The warranty is one year but take the consideration a lot of $800 to even $1500 subwoofers nowadays only have two year warranty on the amplifier itself considering the price of this subwoofer you can easily replace it for 1/3 of the price if it came down to it. TThis isn't a negative but some might perceive it that way, but really it's not when you do the comparison.

One hell of a subwoofer for rhe price
My meticulously crafted 11.2 Atmos setup was already a sonic marvel, delivering earth-shattering bass that shook the very foundation of my room. Yet, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing, a subtle deficiency in the rear of my listening space. The absence of woofers in my rear speakers left a void that demanded to be filled. That's when I decided to take a chance on the Rockville Rock Shaker 15-inch subwoofer, and I'm absolutely ecstatic with the results, especially given its incredibly affordable price. Positioned strategically behind my couch, this beast of a sub lives up to its name, vibrating the entire seating area with intense, low-frequency energy. Despite being ported, unlike my existing sealed Definitive Technology subs, I haven't experienced any conflicting resonances; in my room, all the subwoofers work in perfect harmony. The sound was impressive straight out of the box, but after a few days of intense use, filled with movie marathons, the Rock Shaker continues to improve as it breaks in. Watching films like "Sudden Death," "Deadpool & Wolverine," and "Rampage" has become a truly immersive and visceral experience. Not only that, this subwoofer also shines with music, effortlessly reaching the lowest frequencies. I'm honestly baffled by the negative reviews; as someone who appreciates good audio quality, I find its performance remarkably impressive for the price. I especially disagree with anyone who claims this is better than a 10 inch, they must have placed it wrong or it is defective, because I do not agree at all. As long as your expectations are realistic, and you're not anticipating a $2000 performance from a $200 unit, I'd wholeheartedly recommend this subwoofer. It even includes both high and low-level inputs, a feature often found in much higher-end equipment. Though delivery was a bit slow, the wait was ultimately worth it. The only minor peculiarity I've observed is that the sub seems to power off immediately when the signal stops, rather than adhering to the 15-minute delay stated in the manual. Whether this is unique to my unit is unclear, but aside from that, I enthusiastically recommend the Rockville Rock Shaker 15-inch subwoofer to anyone looking to boost their low end or add a powerful rear sub to an existing system.

Bad speaker
Everything looks awesome till the minute you start bumping music at high volume, speaker box will bounce around and speaker will distort very bad. Don't recommend this speaker.

Damn
I bought this to show my 4 year old nephew what dinosaurs sound like. Also, I enjoy annoying his parents. I succeeded. This thing is loud and had the windows in the house shaking. The final resting place for this speaker is in my garage to give me the low end I need for my six car garage. In the picture you can see the difference in size between the 8",12", and 15".I also ordered two 12" active subs but I don't think I will need them. Maybe I'll have to build a theater 🤔. I have tried the 8", the 12" and the 15" Rockville shakers. They are all pretty awesome for the price. For a home theater I think two 8" would be amazing. I never thought I would say this...but I thing the 12" and 15" are too loud if you have neighbors. I have 2-12" cerwin Vegas in my car and I love them. But I don't sit out in front of my house and bump them. I annoy strangers for a brief period of time. If I had a basement I would put 2-15's down there and rock the hell out of them. They are clear, responsive and very cheap for the amount of air they move. I am very happy, my nephews parents are not.

Just add poly fill, and the port distortion goes away.
Has port distortion. Added the proper poly fill. Sounds like a different sub. Actually worth the money after the poly fill upgrade

Worth the money
Very pleased with this purchase. Subwoofer performs very well. Performance of this sub excedeed my expectations for the price.
