Purple-ish Charm and Silky Smoothness That Competes with the Big Names
Picked this up on sale not expecting too much. I don't usually print with Silk PLA's but this was too good to pass up. For reference - all prints were done on Bambulabs X1C on the Textured PEI Plate. My first print wasn't great but figured out it was user error and adjusted my settings. Next print was a benchy test print and I had much better results.Pros:+ Excellent Print Quality - This filament printed like a dream, providing a smooth, hassle-free experience from start to finish. The adhesion was perfect, and I never encountered any issues with the nozzle or print bed.+ Uniform Silk Texture - The silk-like finish on my prints was there, giving each piece a unique and eye-catching glossy appearance. The uniformity of the texture added a touch of elegance to all of my creations.+ No Issues - Throughout the entire printing process once I got dialed in, I experienced no issues whatsoever—no warping, clogging, or stringing. This filament truly delivered on its promise of a smooth, silky printing experience.Cons:- Color Discrepancy - The filament is advertised as blue, but the actual color leans more towards purple. However, this turned out to be a pleasant surprise, as the color is still vibrant and adds a pop of personality to my 3D prints. But I wouldn't use it on any print that needs blue filament.- Moisture Sensitivity - This filament seems to love moisture a bit too much, requiring a couple of hours in the dryer to achieve optimal printing conditions when I received it. While this may be a minor inconvenience, the results are definitely worth the wait.I recommend this FilaBees PLA if you're looking for a unique filament with a stunning finish. The color may be more purple than blue, but that just adds a touch of whimsy to your creations. Just make sure to give the filament some drying time before using.
