I bought this as a gift for my husband and he absolutely loves it! He just recently got back into fishing and I was worried mainly about the knife but it’s a great knife, very sharp and the kit really has everything you need.

For what you get in this kit it is a good starter set. I got this for the knife as I have been needing one. The fish scaler was a nice addition to the kit. The mat is so so I don't like my cutting boards to be made of rubber, but if you're not particular about that I do recommend grabbing this.

The package included the mat, gloves, scaling tool, knife, sheath, and a small sharpening tool. I did not and will not use the sharpening tool that came with it since I have better sharping tools already, plus it's very small and I don't really want to risk slipping with it. The knife fits well in the sheath and is pretty secure in it. I really like how the knife feels in hand. It's designed well and ergonomic. It's got the right amount of flex when using it. The scaling tool isn't really anything to write home about. It works as well as any other scaling tool. The mat is nice enough and holds in place well when fileting your catch. I don't wear a glove on my knife hand but they fit well enough and makes holding the fish in place a bit easier, with a bit of protection. I'd buy this again if I needed to. It'd make for a great gift as well.

This kit comes with the mat, knife, gloves, 2-stage sharpener, and a scaler. The gloves, sharpener, and scaler are pretty run of the mill items.The mat though is made of heavy rubber that won't slide around on you. It's also easy to clean and rolls up when you're ready to store.The knife appears to reasonably hold an edge while being flexible enough to make for a good fillet knife.If you or someone you know needs a new knife/mat, then this would be a good choice.

This filet set is made well and was super easy to use. Was sharp enough to make the job easy.
